For some reason I cant seem to get the picture from yesterday uploaded, but I filled up this morning and was at 17.8 up the grapevine and back down all the way to San Diego. Can ask for anything better!
First leg complete. 2900 in tow 800 in the back. 33 inch tires and she did great. 35 UP THE GRAPEVINE temp never went over 200 and pulled good. 18.3 mpg on the flat not sure from the hill down to San Diego. Next friday start the trip to Millington TN.
I had the machine shop at work drill and tap mine 1/8 NPT. It is barely thick enough to tap 1/8 npt, but not 1/4, according to their book of all things machinist related...
Thanks for the offer warthog, but I got it solved. I know that the switch was the problem, it was physically broken, and the electrical part was missing, the wire wound back up into the loom and out of the way. It must have been that way for the past year that I have owned it, cause I didn't...
E Bay is my last choice as in 9 days I start my move from CA to TN, I am going to try the wrecking yard, it is 45 miles each way to it, but don't have much choice. Having the transmission kick down properly is going to be a necessity in the 09 towing a car across the mountains...
I need a downshift switch, TM's list part number as 1242101, it is not listed at any of the local big parts stores, (oriely, autozone, napa) does anyone have a source for this part? I need it in the next day or two so the ones I found with google are not going to make it in time...
The resistoor drops the 24 volts to 12. It is a series parallel circuit so if one fails the voltage on the remaining plugs goes up and burns the rest in short order. Bypassing the resistor and tying into the 12 volt buss reduces the chances of that happening.
Look at the light sockets. They are screwey. The ground wire in them is not permanent. It pulls apart from the socket, and has a little metal tab that breaks off, that is the proble, on most I have seen. 5.99 at autozone....
Problem solved, it is pretty amazing that it will not work with the plug 180 degrees out and the terminal that controls the high beams not connected...
Yep both are going to the battery, for some reason the high relay is not switching on, will ID the problem tomorrow and let you all know the fix. Thanks for the tip about the connector.
LMC Headlight harness, radiator flush, new thermostat, new upper and lower radiator hoses, and water temp gauge all went in today. Only problem is the brights don't work now... the spedo indicator lights up, the regular lights go out, but no brights... I swapped the relays, but it didn't...
It was just the idiot light at the time, level is maintained good. Not sure of the brand, purchased at Autozone, they are replacing it under warranty...
I don't think it is possible to flip it either, and it has only been in about 6 months... It has not over heated or anything, I would have never known if I had not pulled the crossover pipe....
I pulled the crossover pipe today to install a temperature sending unit and found my thermostat had tried to turn itself inside out. I have attached a picture, but it looks like the rubber ring was pushed back through the thermostat, could it have been installed backwards?
