    Put the rod in the freezer for about 30 min, while you are cleaning up the gasket surfaces and such. Dip the end in grease, and get it assembled up. Do not tighten it down 100% till you get the hard line on, this will give you some wiggle room to get that hard line on.

    I would run a compression check on it. Sounds like you have the fuel system covered, these old diesels are simple, the timing is set by IP, so if fuel is good and the IP is new timing should be good, compression is the last thing. Could be a slack timing chain. Do a cold compression check...

    Here are the only 2 pictures I got of the trip, one in Arizona and one in TX. It was slow going on the hills, but for the most part traveled averaged 63 MPH. Average fuel mileage was 16 MPG.

    Loaded 400 pounds in the back and 2700 pounds of car to a trailer and hauled it all ftom Lemoore over I the grapevine, through LA, to San Diego. All with my 09 on ee inch tires.
