Nice thread Rich, if I'd seen it earlier I would have just added my impressions to it vs a new thread. When I searched I looked up VDP, didn't think to search for LMC since they're not a exclusive supplier of it. I'm pretty disappointed in it as for a pre-built, most likely it fits our...
Just picked up a Shelf-it from LMC today & thought I'd post my findings for those who are considering it for more storage space.
1. I had issues with the shelf attaching to the mounting brackets. Ended up having to bend the brackets sideways just to get the screws thru the shelf to line up to...
1st off you need to sort the fuel leak completely. diesels must have a steady supply of fuel & no air in their system. leaking fuel means air can enter the system as well as the fuel can drain back into the tank & require cranking to pump it to the engine again.
Gm parts wiki shows GM #14050685 as being base 20gal tank in 85/86, which jives with the capacity of my blazer.
The Dorman 25gal appears to be the often listed replacement when you search the gm part number.
for the time spent pissing & moaning about something a person *could* have looked up the part# in the TSM (7830927/7845043) & then googled those part numbers.
They're 29.58 long(or just 29 1/2 according to the company selling rebuilt shafts...for 1981-1991 Blazer/Jimmy
GM parts wiki shows...
Quick google search of Trail Boss seats brings up some aftermarket on/off-road seats as well as seat bases. Appears he mounted some spring-ride suspensions in the floor w/ military seats bolted to them
Bit of searching shows up at Autozone/OReilly's as CST/Murray part# 8076. They game me a bog standard civvy cap awhile back, guess I'll order in the proper one & see if it performs better.
He said engine side heater box, not engine side box bolts...just incase anyone missed that.
I replaced mine a month or so ago & what I ran into was the aftermarket cores had slightly different top tanks & inlet/outlet tube positions so that the upper strap that holds it down wouldn't clear the...
Ordered 1 last week as well. The can I got now looks very new, but who knows how long it's sat or if the rubber is good inside.
Easiest to replace it now & then tear the old one apart for inspection.
Haven't visited this one in a bit. Finally got a bit of cash/time so starting the repairs again.
all 4 hinge pins/bushings & new door striker bolts. Nice to have doors shut properly now.
I'm a bit slow in the mornings...but you want to replace an engine that you're winding hard & expect to blow at some point w/ a near identical engine that you'll be winding hard?
AFAIK there isn't any real improvement to a later non-turbo 6.5, I thought folk here said they were more prone to...
My G-31s ended up costing around $55 ea since I went through local parts store that wasn't an Interstate distributor. Still it was a heck of a better deal than el-cheapo Megalo-Mart car batteries that would still be around $65-70 ea & not have the cranking power or lifespan.
I've been running AC 60Gs in my 1009 for at least 3 months now & on top of that because of other issues(dying starter) it's always been hard starting & I've needed a push button for every single warm start.
So not only have I used them with the stock controller card, but I've also had to...
Personally it boggles my mind. Prices for 80s barebones commercial chevy diesels are the same as used 90s Dodge w/ cummins around here.
MAYBE you'll get a vehicle w/ low miles & in pristine shape...or maybe you'll get a vehicle that's had the odometer replaced. There's no way you'll convince...
The effort of installing would be identical & I'm figuring the cost would be similar since used/junk/wrecked dodges will make the 6BT more available.
You'd gain running a 3.9 4cyl vs a 5.9 6BT or put it this way....roughly 2/3 the size of engine you have in the truck right now. If you're...
comparison specs I got here say the 6.2 peak hp was 143hp@3600 & the 1989 cummins was 160hp@2500
Torque though was rated at 257@2000rpm for the chevy & 400@1600 for the cummins.
I'm sure these are max specs with a stick-shift though.
