Little curious about it myself. Locally used 1st gen or 2nd gen Dodges can be had for as low as $2000-$400 pretty regularly. Why not just buy a 2nd truck & leave your MV alone? If you can afford the cost of converting a truck correctly then you can afford to just buy a 2nd truck.
They make conversion bellhousings & flexplates that would allow you to hook the cummins right to your trans...but from what I've seen it's gonna cost.
If you're lucky you might find a Grumman diesel van that's setup with the 4BT & already mated to Chevy chassis, but I don't know if they ever...
so are there any suggestions on how to work around it with the stock setup?
I've been searching the forums here & it seems like a fair chunk of people have reading comprehension issues & when you mention the water sensor they tell you to replace the base because of fuel pressure sensor leak...
So I've seen you mention before. So where exactly does it crack? Does the filter base cracking cause the sensor to not seal in the filter grommet hole?
Evening folks.
So my Filter base appears to be leaking...but it doesn't appear to be the typical middle sensor.
My leak appears to be the lowest sensor that bolts to the back of the base & runs through it into a port at the bottom of the filter. Filter is only a couple months old & rubber...
Don't forget the Toyota pickups/corollas, Renault powered Cherokees, & VW's early diesels
IIRC the issue is many of those were only offered for a short period of time & repair parts were difficult/expensive to source from the getgo and to top it off many were undersized engines...usually w/o...
Since the truck isn't mine...yet... I'm a bit unwilling to spend the needed $$ on a replacement IP until a deal is finalized. New GPs & a push button for warm starts will have to suffice for now.
Edited the post for a bit of clarity. I do a whole lot of stop & go, shut off/turn on & once the engine warms up enough that the GP controller doesn't need to cycle the GPs it doesn't really want to start.
Not in a position to do any moderate $$$ repairs at the moment, so planning on tying...
I'm in the process of buying a M1009 from a friend & doing some running repairs.
Half the stock Wellman GPs were bad so we replaced them with AC 60gs since the local parts places had them in-stock. This weekend I'm adding a push button for warm-ish starts since the truck isn't good about...
