A puddle under the air cleaner can indicate a problem with the cooler loop in the t-case - which has ATF circulate out of the transmission to cool the t-case. If the cooler loop develops a leak, pressurized ATF fills the t-case and then get's pushed through the vent lines to the air cleaner. In...
The reason they recommended to not mix MT's and MT/Rs is because they carry different load ratings. On the up-armored trucks that are at 12-13K of weight toward a 14K GVWR, the MT's (and the 12-bolt rim) can't handle the load. They don't want you putting a tire or a mix of tires/wheels where...
I don't think AMG cares anymore. Yes they sent that letter out 15 years ago - back when they were selling Hummers and "cheap" HMMWV sales might have cut into their civilian sales. I was at AMG in the fall - to them, the Hummer is dead, the HMMWV-C Series was pretty much dead (lifesupport?) and...
About two inches of slop between the tow shackle pin and the HMMWV's tow loop. Would slop side to side and front to back. Would not be conducive to a safe and secure towing experience even putting aside shock loading effects.

Similar rotary pump driven off the tailshaft in the 242AMG. The picture linked above isn't the AMG version of the t-case.
That's incorrect. The t-case pump is operated by the rotation of the tailshaft. As long as the tailshaft is spinning the pump is pumping. Now as to flat-towing the 3L80 trannys without a park - I would recommend no - even with the t-case in neutral. The tranny can still spin from parasitic drag...
Red starting or yellow split purpose if you are going to have loads on it without the engine running (radios...). Get the adapter tray - makes them much more secure. Stay away from deep cycle batteries - they are design for low currents over long time - not the heavy demand of a engine...
steelypip - I'd love a copy of those instructions too. Just got the pad poured for the 802A and I'd have to recreate from my old 002A.
Happy to edit or provide feedback.

I have one of those Aluminum rear air-lift bumpers. Looks exactly like the steel airlift - with same dimensions and thickness to the eye - just doesn't weigh nearly as much... Nice!
Here is my Ibis Tek Medium bar hooked to my HMMWV with the HMMWV foot adapter which have been modified to work with this bar. The thickness of the adapter needed to be trimmed a few hundreds and a spacer machined to sit inside the hole to fit the smaller pins.

40 Psi is a good pressure for MT/R's. It's the sidewall flex that kills the older tires.
Of course if you are off-roading and need more footprint it isn't a great choice - but I suspect that if you are doing desert tours then the trail probably isn't something that need good floatation...
Blow outs are most common when under-inflated. I have 10 year old MT/R's that are in fine shape - but I keep them properly inflated. What pressures are you running in your surplus tires?
