    Correct shackles

Mine was missing the front ones. And the rear bumper. The bumper I got (thanks Doug) had the shackles. The front ones I got here were for a deuce, I think they look good. Let's see if the pic works.

    M1008 or M1009?

Really, if you just want a driver, the M1009 is the clear choice. But if you want a truck, for hauling stuff or whatever, the M1008 is the real thing. As has been said before though, if you want to haul big stuff all the time, just buy a Duramax or something. For what I'm doing, the M1008 is...

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

Funny, I've got all the stuff to put a stereo in mine. Can't bring myself to cut the dash. Kind of don't even think about it anymore.....

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

I really thought someone would have said this before now, but i guess I'll say it. CUCV's command a higher price because they are that much more awesome! Apparently they cross the Ford/Dodge/GM line, I have met folks that say "I'm not a Chevy fan, but that's an awesome truck!"

    Throttle Sticking

Please don't be afraid of the IP. When you take it off, watch how you do it. It only goes together one way and isn't that difficult to bleed out. Clean the ends of the lines before you put it all back together, it doesn't take a very big speck of dirt to make them leak.

Information on replacing lines on my M1009

Pricey though. Works like copper, makes very nice lines. Wish I had it a long time ago

What is this Detroit engine and allison trans assembly?

Well, I would probably go to divorce court. The Mrs. is a very patient lady. M1008 and M101A3 trailer, no problem. A deuce? Maybe, if it runs and drives. An SP gun, well, even she might throw in the towel. Good luck on the new toy, I'm just jealous

how hard do you drive it

No matter what gearing you have, it may lower the noise level and lower the engine rpms, but it will still ride like a 30yr old 1 ton truck. welpro222, you speak the truth. BUT, I enjoy riding around in a 30 year old 1 ton truck. and with 800-900 lbs in the bed, they ride like a Caddy

how hard do you drive it

Actually I prefer 55-60 but I had the injector pump rebuilt a little while ago, and now I keep looking down and it's doing 65. I got on the 4 lane a few times and it says 70 before i backed it off. I'm a little more careful now:driver:

Buying a M1009, would like some second opinions.

Be Prepared. CUCV's like to teach lessons to their owners at some very inopportune moments. Mine taught me I need battery cable repair/replacement in the middle of a recycling mission. If in doubt, leave it running. Keep a test light and a couple of tools in the truck just in case school starts...

    Vacuum Regulator Valve Fitting?

You can put the hoses on the valve if you want to. I think the fitting is there so you don't reverse the lines when swapping out the pump.

No Passenger side blinker when lights are on????

My trailer lights wouldn't flash worth a darn when I plugged my trailer into the truck. I swapped the little tin flasher out for one I had hanging around, it said "HD" and had a clear plastic cover. No issues after that.

    good luck on your recovery!

Good gauges at a great price.

Fed Ex dropped off the gauge set today, "Summit" branded. They look real nice. I got the black face set with the black mounting bracket.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Not today but in the last couple weeks I removed the injection pump, had it rebuilt with a Stanadyne kit, reinstalled it and after driving it, I have figured out that I should have done that a long time ago. I also replaced the vacuum lines for the transmission. Old Number 13 now runs and...

Good gauges at a great price.

I just ordered a coolant temp and oil psi gauge set. $28 shipped. Thank you

    Brake bleeding problems

Clogged bleeder screws? Collapsed rubber brake lines? Proportioning valve bad? No offense, did you bench bleed the new master cylinder?

    Fuel gauge questions.

    1. I never trust any fuel guage, unless it's a stick I can put in the tank. Much less a 30 year old GM fuel guage 2. I put fuel in it before I come home. I keep track of my mileage and never go over 100 or 150 miles before I stop for fuel. I do all short runs though. 3. I would...

    Meet Mr Rusty

WOW Keep up the good work. I forgot that PA vehicles had to pass an inspection. I think most of the people I know would have scrapped that truck

    M1031 vibration when stopped

That was like my experience as well. I put the old pump back on.
