surging
any time I get surging in a carburated engine, I immediately think vacuum leak. Check all the intake manifold system for leaks. Sometimes if you spray something like carb cleaner around the bolted gasket surfaces you will get an RPM rise when the leaking area sucks the stuff into the...

Just to clarify.....I was not supporting the complaint on the issues. I am talking about maintaining a civil conversation. I think this is a great site, and I have checked out a bunch! Unfortunately, all sites like have to deal with some who whine and some who bully. How you deal...
I do think we can keep the conversation on this civil and constructive. Both sides have a point. There is no need to castigate a member who asks a legitimate question about the policy.
I have been using this site as a resource for a couple of years. As I learned about my M38A1 and my M37...
I did a clutch not long ago. Trying to remember if the throwout lever operating cable had a spring that held it in the throwout lever????? Or was that a different rig......sorry, not much help!
I love my country.......but if you think you own anything - just quit paying taxes on it! Oregon was toying with the idea of not just adding road tax on fuels, but making you report your mileage at the end of each year and taxing you on miles driven. Wait till they decide to use a multiplier...
Can you get approved for an EUC before you buy at an auction? I am a Merchant Marine Officer and get vetted every 5 years when I renew my license. I can't imagine why I have to do this to buy a 1968 M101 trailer?????? What is that all about?????
Making plans for the MVPA ALCAN trip in 2012. The M37 should be back together and road tested. Now I have to find a good M101A1 trailer to haul the "possibles" behind. I think I have most of the parts to finish the rebuild, other than a set of 11.00 X 16 Michelins.
improvements
I agree scrapdaddy. My M37 was modified some when I got it. it still looks pretty stock, but was not going back to pure military. So, I decided that when I fixed it up, it would be as a driver. I am putting in an Isuzu 4 cyl turbo diesel, Snake River 4X4 power steering...
Nice to know you can still find them in the weeds and get them to kick again! I know that the collectors tend to like the flaties, but I think the M38A1's are a better buy and great rigs to actually drive!
Devil Dog and Moose!
My M37 was named the Moose when I got it. It fits, so it stays. The M38A1 was done up in USMC trim, so named it Devil Dog (after the Marine mascot). Both will get some nose art one of these days.
I see questions about accomodations, etc. Before you go on your trip, get a current copy of the "Milepost", most bookstores have them or will order them and you can get them on-line. They have a very very good list of all amenities along every mile of the ALCAN. Food, lodging, fuel, hot...
Great Project! The rebuilder before you must have used plenty of "Never Sieze" on those bolts! My project has been a great place to hang coats for the past 12 months. I would go to the garage and admire the bare frame, waiting for someone to start working on her. It felt good to begin work...
