    Detroit 4-53 in a deuce?

RE: price The LDT is only 135 hp, but it can be turned up quite a bit (If someones got a good estimate I'd definately like to see it). The LDS is basicly the same motor (different trubo and oil cooled pistons, + minor others) and makes between 195-210 stock (torque #'s anyone ???) so I think...

    Tire chains

When you need um, nothing compares to tire chains in mud and snow. We got 28" of snow right now and I've seen 1 ton 4x4 get stuck (lots of them) and little Lexas suvs with chains go driving by them. As far as putting them on, check this out. http://www.chainuptool.com/page0006.html Seems...

    Got the new truck today!

M139, did you get the dropside bed delivered with it? When I saw that truck for sale the idea that crossed my mind was to cut the outer rollers off the bed and attach the dropside bed to the A frame (after shortening the frame), utilizing the original pistons and hinges. You'd end up with a...

    E-brake handle

I need to get an e-brake handle for my M38 that has been converted from a transfer case e-brake to axle e-brake. I am extremely limited on space and thought a deuce e-brake handle might work well due to there small size. Any thoughts or recommendations on what might work better? I searched...

    New Truck, another bridge type

I saw a bridge truck in Florida with duel super single 16'x20's, 10 total. It was pretty awesome and I bet it would float through almost any mud pit, definately wouldn't have to worry about the rear sinking under a load. If you own a bridge truck and aren't planning on making it legal width...

    tire sizes

14.00 x 20's are 49.4" (according to Michelin) and will not fit factory rims or the truck, the tandems are not spaced out enough. 395 85 R 20 -46.7" inches tall, is the biggest tire you can put on a factory rear setup, but they will also require custom rims.

    warn m1500winch

Electric winches are not very durable at all for heavy use. My brother and I burned up his top of the line Warn 9500 lbs winch that had only been used twice before for light pulls on a 3800 jeep. The pull that killed it was up a 20' 40 degree hill, we made it most of the way before it burned...

Not sure which tire to run on a 5-ton - 14-20 or 16-20?

In reply to: In the past I have used a gummy product that we called bead glue (I don't know the brand name) on tractors, jeeps and 4 wheelers and it will seal anything. It's a very gunny, thick product that never dries, just gets tacky on the surface and it will seal very large gaps. I had a...

    A little fun today

There has been a lot of discussion about NDTs and their performance in snow and ice, as well as how tire chains make them 10x better. I agree that chains make any vehicle awesome in the snow and mud, but they are not cheap and are a huge pain to put on if your already stuck (especially if it's...

    M35A3/M36A3 In cab heater

This may not be appealing to everybody, but one great way to maximize your defrost is to disconnect the rather poor stock system and install an aftermarket electric rear-window defrost system on the windshield. You will have those thin lines running across the windshield, but your now heated...

    engine block heaters

I had a 50/50 ratio as well with using steel freeze plugs, then I started using only copper (or brass) plugs and have had no problems. The copper is much softer and conforms to the imperfections in the block casting much better (like a copper gasket)- the only down side is they cost 2-3x more.

    engine block heaters

For engine block heaters, the type that go in the freeze plug holes work well and are cheap. These are not generally made for specific motors, but are generic to the freeze plug diameter- just measure yours and go to NAPA or Car Quest. I've seen and used the style that mounts inline with your...

    Adding A/C to a M35A2

The best way to add air to a deuce is to get a universal AC kit made for hot rods, like the kits Vintage Air or Hot Rod Air makes, they are made to go into vehicles that were never designed to have air. They make many different sizes of pullys to fit any belt and universal mounting plates for...

    Tranmission problem

Well there is no way to get a set of snap ring pliers in there, but here's a trick if used in the past in similar areas. Get a loop of wire through each of the snap ring ends, then get them on either side of the shaft with the snap ring below the shaft. Then just pull them apart as you pull up...

    bcvxbcv

Wallew, I'm in Fort Collins, about 1 hour north of central Denver. As far as the 855 Cummins goes, it's not a multi-fuel, but it's a BIG torquey motor and it will out run any multi-fuel any day on power, and will run just fine on pump bio-diesel. If fuel cost is a concern, keep in mind that a...
