    802A Parallel operation ???

I understand the purpose of paralleling, just curious why you'd want to with units so small. My first thought was that it was an attempt at fuel saving, but running two gensets at half the consumption rating of one larger genset means zero fuel saving unless one spends more time turned off...

    802A Parallel operation ???

Just curious, why would you want to do this rather than get a 10 kw genset?

    Genset Buyers Guide

There's also the MEP-017a, which is a 5kw gasoline. I don't know what kind of loads you're planning, but unless you're running massive lights and electric cooking, I can't believe you'd need more than a 3kw. I'm guessing weight and space are a premium also, so a small 3kw would be better. For...

    mep-802a to trade for mep-016

    I'll trade you a mep-017a... :) It was worth a shot.

Heating oil vs offroad diesel in MEP802A

No, but it will supposedly be harder to start. I'm pretty sure the 802 has glow plugs, but I didn't pay much attention when I had mine apart. I'm not a fan of glow plugs. Engine warming that runs the oil or coolant through a heater before starting is designed to ease startup and prevent...

Heating oil vs offroad diesel in MEP802A

I ran my 002 in 10's and 20's temps on both hho and on-road diesel, with no difference in performance or smoke at all. There's no place for me to buy off road diesel, so I don't use it. You sure it's not an illusion? Unless you purged the pumps, lines, and filters, you probably started off...

    802a electric problem

I've never opened the cover on mine, but it sounds like ETN550 is describing a contactor (large relay), and you're mistaking that for a transformer. If it's a contactor and it's not energized, you would see voltage in but no voltage out. Maybe the contactor isn't pulling in. It could be the...

Heating oil vs offroad diesel in MEP802A

In regular usage, HHO should perform equal to #2 diesel. Diesel exhaust is also toxic without additives... :)

    Mep-802= No fun at all

Hey, just actually seeing the pic after pm'ing you. Did you have a load on the output lugs to get that 100% load on the meter?? If not, and after you saying it shocked you, you have a short somewhere. You can try switching the output switch to different positions and running the Gen to see if...

    Another MEP-802a thread; battery wire

I noticed my Battery-to-battery wire had some damage to it as I was putting my batteries in for long term. Someone before me decided a few wraps of electrical tape was good enough to repair it... I suspect this is the reason I saw and have heard of several of these units having fires inside...

    Mep-802= No fun at all

If I still lived up there, I'd give you a hand. It sounds like you have a boatload of problems, but like any complex system, tackle it in small steps. First thing I'd say to do is drain the oil and see what's in it. If its milky, it's still full of water. If there's a lot of brown particle...

    802a starter question

That's exactly what I plan to do. Keeping the outlet upward helps with noise reduction. I also plan to drill a small hole in a low spot, so if it does start filling with rain, it will drip out and rust out the muffler before entering the head.

    Recent MEP 802A report

Andrew, I haven't load tested mine, but I like it better than the 002 so far. It starts way easier, and it's a lot quieter. I'm going to remove all sheet metal to add sound proofing material, and see if I can make a harmonic null for the exhaust. But if it conks out or trips an overload when...

802'a from the March 3rd Sale

I rolled mine out this morning after changing the chocolate milk oil, and tried to start it, and sure enough, my shutoff solenoid didn't pull in. I manually pulled it in, and the genset fired right up. I'll dig into it tonight, see if it's getting activation voltage, and if so, if I screwed it...

802'a from the March 3rd Sale

Mine wouldn't crank initially either, but I had the reset the circuit breaker above the fuse, next to the output switch. I had nothing DC, though, no lighting, glow plugs, etc. It sounds like you found the issue. Check around for any worn wiring jackets that may have shorted against metal and...

802'a from the March 3rd Sale

Hey, BP, or anyone with an 802a; What do you have as FU1 fuse? Mine is missing, and the tm lists no specs on it.

Nope, hadn't noticed it, but I'll check it when I get home tonight. Thanks!

    MEP-802a & 803a

So does that mean if the lines and tank were 100% drained, the pump needs some initial manual priming before it will work? That would fit with what I experienced, but seems like a really poorly thought-out system for unit that have to be drained for storage and transport through customs. Of...
