    Axle Swap Question

A Dana 44 and 10 bolt are comparable strength axles. If you're going through all the work of swapping a front axle then a D44 is almost a waste of time and money.

Two problems with 1009, fuel and transmission

I haven't ruled out the Lift Pump but I figured if that was the problem then I wouldn't be getting enough fuel. Judging by the mostly black smoke it's belowing, the problem is probably the fuel not being injected properly with enough pressure.

Two problems with 1009, fuel and transmission

Just a small update. I replaced the IP and althought it solved the hard starting issue, everything else is about the same. I have a set of rebuilt injectors on the way to hopefully fix the problem.

    Well I bought a 1008

They are plenty strong. You can go off-road with them.

Rear shaft out of tailpiece - how much?

That's too much. You can get your driveshaft lengthened to fix it.

Two problems with 1009, fuel and transmission

I'm removing and replacing the IP. I got to the point of pulling the manifold off today but the rear stud on the passenger side that doubles as a ground point is giving me fits.

    Fuel problem on the m1009

To echo what everyone else has said, everything you've mentioned so far makes me thing something is wrong with the glow plug system.

Two problems with 1009, fuel and transmission

I've seen it mentioned in my search about making sure the return line is not blocked but how do you do that? Fuel filter is brand new. As for problem #1, I pulled the vacuum line off and drove down the street, the problem certainly changed as it didn't shift out of first at all so it does...

Change a tire in the woods jack recommendations

Using a hi-lift jack as a winch, in my opinion, was just a marketing scheme that the people who build hi-lift jacks came up with. By the time you connect everything (you now have double the recovery gear) you'll loose most of the working length of the jack to get everything cinched up and tight...

    places to off-road

It's a different world as far as off-roading goes once you get back east. We truly are spoiled compared to what they have.

Change a tire in the woods jack recommendations

    If it's what I'm thinking it is, it's a generic Hi-Lift.

Two problems with 1009, fuel and transmission

I've got two problems with my 1009 that I've been troubleshooting almost since I bought it. One I'm at a lost with, the other my next step is to start spending big bucks on. First is with the transmission. It shifts too soon. Shifts from 1st to 2nd at about 15mph then 2nd to 3rd almost...

    places to off-road

No idea. As far east that I've lived was Mississippi and Illinois. Private parks are all I was aware of.

Change a tire in the woods jack recommendations

I've done all sorts of off-roading and I've never had a problem that couldn't be fixed with some knowledge, a 6x6 wooden block, and a simple bottle jack. Hi-lift jacks are death traps at best. I've seen too many handles snap back up and vehicles fall off of them.
