I went though the same thing and everyone danced around the question and got the TM bomb a few time. The long and short is just use regular non-synthetic 80-90 gear oil. Synthetic is not worth it for the miles we will run with these trucks. PM me if you have more specific question.

I spot primed the the bare metal areas with a high nap hot dog roller. the roller helped add texture. finish paint will be done once the truck is assembled on the chassis.
Since my last post I have neutralized any rust on the cab, hardtop, and hood. Took out any dents, sanded out any peeling paint, sanded them all, spot primed. The cab has been undercoated inside and out.
