I'm thinking about buying a deuce from a private seller.
Given that this is snow, and therefore road salt country I'm concerned about rust.
Can anyone tell me where the most common areas on a deuce to be on the lookout for rust? Where does it show up first, second, third?
Thanks,
Bjorn,
There was a "save" function on the "In-Box" PMs but not on the "Out-Box" PMs. If there is one I can't find it.
I'm always reminded of the words "What fresh hell is this" when these sort of glitches happen  :-D
Hey Mangus --- I created a "Saved" folder and was successful in transfering a coupld of PMs that were in my In-Box over to it but the system won't let me transfer PMs from my Out-Box into the new Saved folder.
Please help ... "Thanks"
The insulation on the back of the cab is a good idea.
If you are going for noise reduction , insulation on the inside of the hood goes a long way to quiet things down. Also insulation on the inside of the hardtop.
Looks good --- your hard work is paying off.

Wow ... This is really cool ... I'm quoting myself :-D
Anyway, I finally got around to taking Rosie out for a long drive today. The vacuum stayed the same regardless of whether I mushroom was installed or removed. I ran tests on level ground accelerating in fifth gear at full throttle from...
If I'm understanding this correctly it sounds you're truck is at one extreme and mine is at the other.
I blew the seals out of the gauge that reads between the pump and the filters last winter.
I too wonder if the valve"s" are calibrated. (scratching head)
Since I installed an LDS in my bobbed deuce I've turned down the main fuel settng and droop screw setting twice. Depending on my next mileage test result I may turn the droop screw down a little more. For the way I use the truck (it's hobby horse) I've got power to spare.
I've wondered if having a muffler quiets the sound of the whistle. I tend to think it doesn't but don't know for sure.
When I ordered the duals for Rosie I ordered mufflers. Sometimes I think about getting a couple of straight pipes and replacing the mufflers just to see what she would sould...
A couple of years ago I made a detailed post on an electric fan I installed on my deuce. It was on the old SS site --- I have it book marked under the following link/url but it no longer works...
I'm not sure if the trailer pictures and shown in the data plate in this thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/members-rides/24946-m819-m270.html in an M270 or a M270a1. I need the one shown in the data plate --- with the 48 inch deck.
I'm looking for a 40 or 45 foot X 8 foot wide flat bed trailer to haul and store my houseboat on.
What's the military designation for a 40 foot flat bed trailer?
Also, has anybody got any ideas as to market price?
I figure an 8 foot wide flat bed trailer will fix between the pontoons. A 9...
Speaking only from an LDT vs LDS engine standpoint it is my opinion that the reason that the five ton has the larger air filter is to allow longer service time before changing. I believe a clean filter of more than adequate from a CFM standpoint BUT --- when running an LDS with a deuce filter...
I'll run some tests in a few days.
I've got a vacuum gauge in my air cleaner assembly. I'll see if there is a difference in vacuum without the mushroom.
I took the tach and speedo cables out of my M35, gave them a good washing and greasing and installed them. It worked pretty well BUT the needles still jump around when I play "Dukes Of Hazard" ..... "EEeeeHHaaaaa!"
