Those filters look quit a bit bigger than the 1970 5-micron filters that I am using and the 1970s (from what I remember) have twice the capacity (@ 5-mg) of the stock deuce filters.
I'm no expert in this area but to my way of thinking if the new filters have 2+ the capacity of the stock...
Bobbers are light in the rear. I have to leave my front hubs spun in (engaged) in order to back out of my driveway in the mornings. Once the 80W90 in the front end gets warm I could probably get out without the front axle engaged but I leave the hubs engaged in winter and reach for the air shift...
I don't feel the Carter "thumper" pumps have enough capacity to keep the IP pump adequately fed. If memory serves me properly, the book says 3 to 7 PSI of fuel pressure to the IP pre-pump is required for maximum power/performance.
I've got two fuel pressure gauges and have done tests with...
I had camo flames put on the side of a Power Wagon once.
The guy at the body shop what did the painting was really talented. He did such a great job on the camo that by the time the paint had dried we couldn't see the flames.
There is also the possibility that the fire went out but...
There is a cluster of three lights that are suppose to be on all non-military trucks. What remains to be seen is if in installing the clearance lights that I might someday be challenged to have the three cluster lights. I'm not going to worry about it until I get stopped but it "might" cause a...
I have a glass top of The Yankee Rose (Rosie).
I'm attaching some pictures.
I'm told the fiberglass tops are quieter than the steel tops. The way they are designed I think there is more head room built into the glass tops.
What I don't like about the glass tops are the three pedestals on...
From what I remember the differences are in the cam and oil cooled pistons and timing. The pump is turned up higher and the newer LDS engines have a "D" turbo.
To drop in a deuce you have to install the oil pump bottom of pan plumbing from an LDS and reverse the oil pan. The oil pump and pan...
I've never seen it written anywhere --- I just always assumed the needle on the pyro should be bottomed out before shutting down. I don't know what temp that is but on my pyro is way below 300. I've heard 3 min and I've heard 5 min cool down time. I don't really know.
Maybe someone wiser than...
I also have a "C" turbo on my LDS-1A engine. It works fine.
When I got the engine it was equiped with a "D" turbo. After running it for a few weeks I found a "C" and installed it. The "D" has better heat shields and supposedly has a litle more boost but I can't tell the difference. Hey ---...
By the time you buy fuel to get there and then fuel to get back then hotel lodging and food you're going to have $1,200.00 and a full week invested in the "mission" and that's assuming you don't have to spend a couple of days getting "Ole K9" ready to drive. It's also assuming you don't have...

It was probably Tet though Dong Ha, as you know, was constantly getting hit. The name Hemmings doesn't ring a bell BUT --- it's been sooo many years. Thanks for the info.
