I wouldn't concern myself with all this agent and contract fear mongering. Its been my experience, working 10 years with military picture cars in the movie industry that any damage is well taken care of and paid for fully and promptly.
That includes extremes such using a duece to ram another...
I also had my door rubbing against the lower front fender. When you grab your door at the back and lift, does it have play? If so..your door hinge pin bushings need replacing. Seemed like a royal pain in the #*% to change. So I used a floor jack with a piece of wood and lifted the back of the...
I also had the dreaded leaking fuel pressure sensor syndrome. Couldn't see any fuel leaking, so like tequilaiam I drilled a small hole in the fuel cap. That fixed the problem for a few years but then I started to need a few seconds cranking to start. That was finally fixed when I installed a new...
First, take it to a proper shop, that knows what they are doing and can actually explain it properly. When I went to do my alignment, my guy tells me that he couldn't do an alignment because there was too much play in the steering box. Had to get a rebuilt box. Make sure you get one from...
I dont know about rebuilding it, but mine bolted right in, works great. The intermittent wiper is one of the best mods you can do. You'll need the module.
If you're tearing it apart, Pm me or post on getting to the shift lever tension spring. I have the part , just haven't done it yet.
Its a 86 M1009. Just to clarify, I have the special lock washers that go between the 2 locknuts. Its the other one outboard of this; SPACER,RING (10) and snapring(9), in the pic.
As well, it shows 2 lockrings outboard of the hub, I only have the one. Or is #5 and 9 part of the hub assembly...
Did my hubs today, put in new bearings and races. When I looked in the TM's it shows a washer between the locknuts and locking hub. I dont seem to have these on either side. As well the only snap ring I have is the one on the outer edge that holds the hub in place, is there supposed to be...
Check the TM's, there are only a few bolts that go through the water jacket that require thread sealer. If you're lucky and you have no coolant contamination of your oil you can just drain the coolant remove the particular bolt, thread seal it, re-install, fill coolant and you're done.
Worst...
Sounds like my truck. Does the shift lever just flop back and forth instead of being held outward from the steering wheel? There is spring inside the column that provides this tension. I haven't replaced mine because its somewhat more involved re&re wise to get to its location. But I have the...
Watch where you buy your steering box from. A few years back I had dropped off my M1009 to my mechanic friend for a wheel alignment. He calls me and says the box has too much play to do an alignment, I need a new box. Went to the local Lordco, a chain parts store like NAPA. They had one in...
I have an occasional slight flickering of my Gen2 light at idle. Its my understanding that is caused by the #2 alternator diode trio. Haven't taken it apart to replace it as its still charging perfect. But your voltmeter showing charging in the red sure sounds like alt rebuild time ....
If your "fuel tank draws a vacuum and pulls some fuel from the filter". Your cap is defective, replace it or do what I did and drill a tiny hole through it. Sounds like you also need to replace your fuel filter base.
Raining today, so I borrowed a car and went to buy all the parts, will do it tomorrow. Read the TM's and several other web sources, one talks of a gasket between the plate and the block but the TM's only say to use Anaerobic sealing compound. Am I missing this gasket or is this misinformation?
What I meant by going south was could I drive it tomorrow to get parts as my coolant overflow tank is still full. The TM's call for Pipe sealant ; is this white wrap around tape or a brush on type similiar to neverseize?
I noticed some coolant leaking on the ground. Looks like its coming from the harmonic balancer, all hoses and connections are good. Appears to be a water pump failure. From underneath it looks like the bottom of the pump is wet where there is a small hole. Think I read about this weep hole...
Been driving my M1009 for 7 years with a 4"lift. Had to replace my rear t-case seal multiple times due to it starting to leak. Its only a little weep but it eventually collects on the u-joint and drips on the ground. You can clearly see the old wear marks where shaft used to contact the seal...
