I'm going to try to get it going. Certainly not going to give up. Before I get back to the truck I'm going to need to know how to raise the cab. So far that is a mystery. Hopefully somebody can enlighten me. Thanks

Went to see the truck today. 20 hours driving, 3 hours there. This truck is going to be alot of work. Rats had built a big nest on the engine, it had 1 battery still in it and I never could get it out, frozen solid, really iced in. Rats had chewed some wiring, but the real problem was I...

I just talked to the caretaker of the truck and they haven't been able to locate the keys. I know many military trucks didn't have keys or they were like CUCV's and 1 key fit them all. Do you know what was the case with this k100 model? Kenworth does have a kit to re-key the ignition, doors and...

Bighurt, Can you tell me more about the APU? Is there a PTO on the truck? Thanks, Greg

    kenworth coe k100

I found more info by calling Kenworth with the vin. The engine is a NTC 300 Big Cam. Transmission is an Allison HT754 crd. It has duel range 410/561 DTRT Eaton rears. It was originally bought by Boeing Aerospace. I checked the vin on another Kenworth k100 on GSA and it is identical. I'm curious...

    kenworth coe k100

I was thinking about that too. I might give it one shot at running with new batteries. That 500 mile distance doesn't lend itself to multiple attempts. I wish I knew more about the truck. I'm not even sure if it has a key or if it's 12v or being military possibly 24v.

I do have a winch I can mount on the trailer. It's an old warn 8k and with 3 or 4 snatch blocks maybe. I need to find out how tall the truck is, and the wheelbase length and width. I would really like to put some effort into starting it. Driving my deuce and trailer 500 miles empty is going to...

I was thinking about using my equipment trailer behind the deuce. Height is one thing and getting it on the trailer is another if it's not running. The deuce has a high pintle that makes the front of the trailer even higher. Need some measurements. Thanks for the info and ideas.

    kenworth coe k100

Sorry I don't have any real details. It is at a fire dept 500 miles from me. when I do get it home, I'll know what I have gotten into and can post some details. I have learned more from Bighurt right here than anywhere I'm thinking about possibly flat towing it. Some vehicles follow much...

    kenworth coe k100

It would be a slow trip and without too much elevation change. I wouldn't do it in bad conditions. I was also thinking I could possibly tow it somewhere that I could have it serviced, then drive it. Not certain what to do yet. Having it moved professionally is a possibility. As far as plans for...

    kenworth coe k100

Hope I didn't make a mistake but I ended up buying the K100 I was thinking about. It is an 81 vintage model. It hasn't run in years, so I can't drive it the 500 miles home. I'm thinking about towing it with my deuce, I've done crazier things. I do have axle clamps for a tow bar. Another option...

Did they have an M number designation? Thanks for the quick reply and interesting info

Early 80's would have been it and I think they were automatic.

Has anyone have any info on these blue trucks that I have seen used by the airforce? What engine and trans and gearing they came with? Any history about them? Thanks

Has anyone converted to serp belt and kept the 24v dual alts ?

They made a serpentine belt system for the 6.2. Why won't that work? Seems like it should. I'll have to look closer at it.

    Another Transmission swap question

Thanks Iceman, now I know what to look for.

    Another Transmission swap question

Somehow I got a double post. In looking for another TC would it be correct to assume that the linkage for the 208 I have now with the TH400 would also work with a 208 and 700r4 combo? I'm thinking that keeping a 208 TC in there will keep things simpler. Thanks

    Another Transmission swap question

Thanks for the help and pointers. I guess I'll keep the 700r4 for now and look for parts. I haven't had a 700r4 apart. Is replacing the output shaft something a shop should perform? Special tools etc? Besides the output shaft is there anything else I need? Thanks. Greg

    Another Transmission swap question

I bought a 91 Chev half ton 2wd pickup for the banks turbo on the 6.2. It has the 700r4 in it with low miles, but the 6.2 is seized because it blew an oil line. Is it worth it to save the transmission for my M1009? What would I need to do or parts to find to bolt it to a 208 or a 205 transfer...

    sm465 into a m1008 for towing

I think the sm465 can be driven with economy in mind much easier than the th400, even with the ratios being the same.
