Possible to use 9.00-20 tubes for 11.00-20 tires?

I think you should air up the tire and then remove the core and do it again. I had a tube wear due to a wrinkle and go flat.

    sm465 into a m1008 for towing

You should gain some mpg too. Can't you get a flywheel from napa?

Got tips for better MPG's from LDT motors?

Your saving $ with the alternative fuels, but they won't give you the MPG that diesel does. You probably would get 10 to 12 mpg with straight diesel. You are singled out with the 9.00x20's?

    Tire sizing

Is there some fender trimming up front? 34.5" tires usually rub without trimming or lift. 1100x16r are very skinny surplus tires and will fit those rims but you will need alot of trimming or some trimming even with a 4" lift. I was thinking a zero rate with a 4" lift would be best and maybe...

    Front axle spindle nut removal

I found the key, but I didn't have the screw that will jack it out. I will get that tomorrow. Thanks

    Front axle spindle nut removal

I found the answer over at colorado K5. They said they found the answer here on SS. There is supposed to be a jack pin in one of the slots that aligns with the keyway in the spindle. A 4-40 screw will take it out. There is no socket that fits the 6 pins. It should be loose after I get the pin...

    Front axle spindle nut removal

What may work for 1 M1009 not necessarily will work for another. I've been trying to find the right tool to remove the spindle nut. I have a 4 pin socket that I have used to remove the nut on a different M1009 but my daughters M1009 is a 6 pin. Other threads mention a rare spindle nut and one...

Thanks, I was sleepy and it was past my bedtime and I was thinking that was for the dana 60.

    Hub Removal Tool

I'm replacing the rotor on my daughters M1009 and saw this recent post. I too have only seen the 4 point nuts until now. This M1009 has a 6 point that is in the threads of the nut (inside) and it's smooth and round on the outside without the 4 slots that I have seen before. Does anybody know the...

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

I have a 95 dodge and the headlights are a weak point with a melting headlight switch. If your connection in the fuse box gets corroded heat will be produced when current demand rises. The worse the connection becomes the more heat thats produced. The fuse often doesn't blow and your fusebox...

    M1009 rusted front roof corner

Silicone attracts water. It seals out water but seems to keep the area wet at the same time. I would not use silicone.

    Shelter carrier hardware

The jacks came with big caster wheels bolted to the bottom of the jacks for rolling the shelter, probably on and off the truck but I don't have any flat areas, everything around here has a slope so I removed them and used blocks.

    Shelter carrier hardware

The jacks came with the shelter, I didn't add them. I'll get a closeup picture. I stated it won't rot only because that is my experience, I'm sure it eventually will, but one board I used under my shelter was partially buried in dirt for the last 10 years and showed no sign of rot yet. I just...

    Shelter carrier hardware

I'm still in need of the front crosspiece, and while the bed rails may not have been part of the shelter hardware, the military did install them with the other shelter carrier hardware pieces on my truck. I'm the 1st civilian owner. I'll get a picture of the rails.

    Shelter carrier hardware

Thanks for the pictures willey10. It seems all these shelters were built different. I haven't seen 2 built the same. I'll try to post a picture of mine. Was a plate that covered the side rails of the pickup box part of the shelter hardware on the M1028? Thanks

    Shelter carrier hardware

I looked at some pictures of shelters on HMMWV's and the ones on the M1097 look like they are the same s-250g shelter, where the shelter that is on the other HMMWV variants is built to fit the HMMWV only. The fit in the M1097 is tight to the cab. I don't see anything on my shelter where it may...

    Shelter carrier hardware

Firefox, the best wood to use would be pressure treated. It will never rot. That's what M38 used too. The bad is when you cut it the cut wood will be exposed that is not treated. The pressure treating doesn't go all the way through. To give the cut areas some protection you could paint those or...

    Shelter carrier hardware

The problem I see with the dunnage is backing the truck under the shelter. It was a tight fit without any dunnage. I can see the need for dunnage under the bottom rails to keep the shelter off the bed sides but I would like to find another way to anchor the shelter at least front to rear so it...

    Shelter carrier hardware

My shelter has rails built into the bottom of the shelter on the sides and blocks on the ends. I'm unsure until I do some measuring, but I'm wondering if my shelter requires the same dunnage. M38inmaine, is your shelter built with the built in rails or is it flat bottom? I'm wondering if some...

    Shelter carrier hardware

I ended up getting a shelter for my M1028 and I got it in the bed late this evening. Is there anything that is supposed to be under the shelter? It rests on the bed rails. The rails do have a top plate. Anybody here have a shelter mounted mil-spec, with a picture? Thanks
