If it is a complete restoration your kind of stuck. If it were me I'd find the outfit that makes the 8.25x16.5 wheels with the right centers and run 37"hummer tires. Or buy some hummer tires and wheels and a re centering kit.
Often times o rings deform under compression for long periods of time. I'm unsure of the diameter options for the military wheels but for heavy equipment in 25" there are 2 different o ring diameters. Using the wrong one usually makes it leak. In heavy equipment the o rings often look t shaped...
First off I believe the wheels are stamped tubeless only. You will rip the stem in a tube because they are not in the correct place.
Second I wouldn't crank down the o ring down that hard for the first tightening. I would find them all down hand tight then only go lightly say 50lbs or less till...
Cool I was wondering if those tires would have enough carrying capacity to do the job. I have a buddy that is in a similar situation with his Mog but those wheels are too wide for the 1200R20 xml truck tires and the 395s are to large. The 14.5x20 ag or the Mich xlz are too scarce up here for an...
It is also a lot easier to find a replacement tire/wheel locally also. Not to mention you can run some pretty sweet retreads if you can't find a deal on used ones.
12r22.5 tires are the direct replacement for 1100R20 and I know several people who have ran them next to each other. Matter of fact there are direct cross overs from tube type to tubeless for the major sizes. 1000r20=11r22.5 1000r22=11r24.5
I think the increased wear comes from the tire rotation. Tires with a big void between treads often cup or wear on the back side of the lug. By running the front ones backwards and rotating you would get longer more even wear.
If you are driving up to Alaska through BC and need something Hans owner of Moss import service can help you out. I have a few Canadian friends who have used him.
Out of round is when a Tire is manufactured and the rubber flows more on one side that another. Making it aggressive shaped (oversimplication) the best way to remedy that is to have it True at a Tire retreated and normally best done on the wheel for a tubeless tapered bead which a hummer Tire...
Speed rating on tires is a function of how deep the tread is, how fast, and how much weight. I would guess that the tread depth isn't as deep on the GDY tires to get a higher speed rating. The voids are also the smallest of the 3 tread patterns talked about, likely making the tire life similar.
The Mich xzl will wear better than the Xml but the xml will have better off road traction due to the larger voids in between lugs. I have heard of a trucking company using the 395s in Goodyear MV/T as super single drive Tire replacements for over the road work. It must work pretty good. There...
An additional thought. Most aftermarket aluminum wheels are cast Aluminum not machined bullet. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in strength. I'd only go with cast if I was gona run around empty all the time at city speeds.
