RE: Re: RE: odd steering noise
If you are referring to me, I,m not too wound up, just don,t like picturing learning mechanics getting hurt on account of any incomplete advice I give.Shake Hands With Danger.
It is possible your glow plugs are burnt out. The glow plug is catching because it is carboned up or expanded and failed. Try to pull the plugs out with twisting motion, If any of them break off, remove injector and try to remove broken part with magnet, This is very important. Check that...
I see no picture. If you ask for a starter for the later civilian 6.2, late 80s & up you should get the gear reduction. It should bolt rite up, always try to use new starter mountung bolts with each installation, unless you like playing with Helicoils or worse.
RE: Re: RE: odd steering noise
Put vehicle in park, set brake & block tires. Have helper turn steering wheel slowly back and forth with engine ideling. Check for flex in frame, movement of steering gear off frame, downward movement of steering gear output shaft, play in drag link tie rod...
If your engine ever sucked glow plug tip(s) down you may need to replace piston & wrist pin. Mabey you should listen to a 6.2 you know is good, As was mentioned, All diesels make more noise than gas and you can drive yourself nuts with ghosts
If you ever want to paint over that zinc cromeate primer. The oil residue will have to be removed. I am looking at oil stains on a cammo 1028 I have and wonder if I will ever get regular enamel (ie Centari) to stick . I welcome suggestions, I do have to paint because of surface rust, this is a...
There are people here that know more about these things than I, but you should keep your warn up temp sensor if you want to take care of your engine in cold climates. I always wait till it kicks down before hitting the road, though I will fast idle them around the yard. I think this sensor is...
I concur with Crusty, definatkly a ground problem. Check that ground wires off each side of front light harness are connected and clean. they are the black ones that connect to the body.
Fast idle temp sensor is off back of passenger side head. Follow wire back from kick down soleniod on injector pump. looks similar to regular temp sensor, as I recall.
I recently put a gear reduction 24v starter # mt-28 in my 1028 work truck.. I bought from Nations Starter and Alternator. I have had the solenoids fail twice with no warning. The warrenty was honored. The propritor mentioned that the correct 24v Delco Remmy soleniod cost as much as the new...
Be sure that your 6.2, crankshaft has been board out to recieve clutch pilot bearing. Chevy often did not bother to do this on engine runs that were mostly for automatic trannys
Don't bother with 6.2 for m-37. It has bad low rpm torque and worlks better with automatic. I would suggest a staight 6 like a cummins out of a dodge, that with a five speed manual overdrive, from same mid 90's dodge would be better choice. My opinion.
If you ended up taking the steel rod that runs the lift pump out or let it drop down, you can stick it up while you put the new fuel pump in by putting a little heavy grease on the camshaft end of rod. Make sure rod is engaged with the fuel pump lever proprerly.
Thanks for the safety tip
The theme song to the "Caterpillar safety movie Shake Hands With Danger" comes to mind..Actually everyone should check this one out, Has accurate depictions on several accidents that could happen to us, including explosive air brake cylender dissasembely, removal of...
I have noticed fewer cucvs up in future sales. I realize the whole point of GL is to get rid of obsolete equipment. Are we getting to the bottom of the barrel? The government has been getting rid of these for a long time.
