I don't have the part numbers, but if you want a 12v gear reduction, ask for a civi srarter for a late 80,s early 90s 6.2 at any auto parts store. Don't bother with 12v non gear reduction. The 24v non gear eductions can be had from Memphis Equipment for big $. I recently got a new gear...
I am looking for sources of used CUCV part near new england. Saturn dosn't have a lot of used parts anymore and the place I used to call in Vermont seems to be gone. Right now I need a 1008 rear drive shaft, I just got one with government fork lift damage. Thanks
They sold a bunch of hummer 6.2s out of Maine a couple of months ago.
Scotts liguid gold? so this won't screw things like either?
RE original topic, check to see that round sensor behind the fuel filter is not leaking down.. this can cause the symtoms you describe. s
RE: Re: RE: more photos of rear axle
So we are mainly talking duel vs single? I,ve swapped the differential out of a 1008 singel axel housing to a duel off a 1970s k-30. I wonder if these non removable carrier axels all have interchangable guts. I miss the old removable carrier types. Too...
The wiper motor is the same as civilain chevy s of the era. rebuilt wiper washer units are the easyest way to fix . but mabey not the cheepest the wiper washer units are serviceable, but when the little plastic cogs are worn off it gets annoying.
Too bad the th700 has durability problems. I recently saw a cucv pickup on craigs list with a 4L80 overdrive automatic... the listing said it used an aftermarket computer chip to enable conversion. Has anybody tried this? The th 700s are not strong enough for sustained use in anything heavyer...
The HELI-COIL repair works quite well if you know what you are doing. But if you screw it up, you could cause yourself unending headaches. I agree it is Best to get help if you have never done one before. Do your first one on the bench or something. f you do try it wear good saefty goggles or...
A must with non gear reduction starters. Nice for gear reduction to but not required. it is a different part for the gear reduction, and I have never found a source for these. Have converted my 12 vs to gear reduction and they last ok without the part.
Also replace starter bolts,, They often...
RE: Re: RE: more photos of rear axle
The new one I bought is the same in every way as BUILDER 77s exept the 3 didget # is 325 instead of 337. The seller listed it as "4:56 14 bolt" The 15595139 # is the same two trucks and two axel housings in the yard. the two trucks are 1028s, one fresh...
If you want to keep it simple , mess with your wireing harness as little as possible. if the STE/Ice port is not bothering you, don't bother it Cutting it out could cause a world of hamberger with no gain. Also, altering the wiring will lower it's resale value.
RE: more photos of rear axle
I recently bought a nos (new old stock) dana 60 from Sam Wiener moters for about 1k including shipping. Considering the truck I got it for needed a rear brake job, and a new differential, I figure it was a good deal.. The new brake drums alone on the thing cost...
I would agree with jaq7720 that you may have a failed tire. Sometimes they will even form an air blister that gets larger as the tire heats up and goes away when cold.
If you still have a 24v starter and whole system is converted , you will need a 12 v. Otherwise it may be a bad soliniod. Also make sure you are getting a full 24v, one bad battery cell can cause it to click .
There are two starter noses available for the 6.2. one is listed for 4x4s and has very little gap between the starter drive gear and the housing. Both starters work on all engines, as far as I know, but the 4x4 one lets less debris though.
The window crank is the same for all chevy and GMC light trucks from 1982-1986 same crank was also used in some medium duty trucks up to at least 1988. tailgate parts are the same as civilian K-5. s. Junk yard s, internet junk yards or Hemmings moter news may help.
RE: what is the best method for alternative fuel setup in cu
If you choose to use a two tank system, one for Veg oil one for diesel(starting and cold weather ) There was a stock two tank set up available in civilian chevy pickups 1982-1986 . includuded tank & fuel gauge switch.
