    5.9 cummins in M1009

Better off getting a manual 5 speed dodge with transfer case, then you will have a overdrive gear . You will have to modify engine and transmission mounts, but you were going to have to do some of that anyway. I'm sure there are lots of ways to go about this depending on your mix of parts.

WAIT light on just after starting

Check out "sticky" on manual glow plug control at top of CUCV posts. and then you" don't need no stinking cards ..",,

Does a CUCV have power brakes?

It is important that your brake fluid be one type or the other, not a mix. Occasionally changing brake fluid to remove contaminants and water is a good idea, and most of us don't do it as often as we should. Bleed with whatever you are using until it looks clean for a while.. If you ever do...

    1008 axles to 1009?

I added helper spring perches to a 1008 that I converted to duel wheel.. I am a fair enough welder, but I chose to drill and bolt them on with 3/8ths US made grade 8 bolts. That was 7 or 8 years ago and I still work this truck regularly with dump body. no problems.

WAIT light on just after starting

I would like to know what positive function the control cards serve? I have 3 civy 6.2's and a couple of cucvs that are electirily , mostly, de-milled. These trucks work fine with no cards. The civilian trucks never had them. Does it relate to STR+ICE? I currently have 2 that are still...

Does a CUCV have power brakes?

This brings up a question I've had. I've got several cucvs, I recently got a 1028 from GL and it has DOT 5 silicon brake fluid, with a decal on hood and all. The other 4 I have had DOT 3 when I got them. Is it likely that these had DOT 5 at one time? I am familiar with the consequences of...

    What did I bereak/ Fix?

Still sounds low on fluid, but you should clean it up, drop the pan and replace the filter as littlebob says. Its your best bet before transmission shop.

    6.2l Really a Detroit?

OK how? is this a knock knock joke? If you are refering to the 5.7s , they tried to beef up the basic chevy small block with roller chain timing, 4 bolt mains ect. Most of them died young,, though a friend of mine had an Olds that made it to 180k miles.

    Cracked CUCV starter?

May be time for a gear reduction, unless you can find a good rebuild. If you go to 12v, it is all easy with the gear reduction, though I understand why you may want to stay original. 24 volt gear reduction also available. I think it is # mt-28.

    6.2l Really a Detroit?

The 6.2 , and the 8.2 med truck engine , for that matter, may have been desingrd by Detroit. Some folks, myself included, tend to refer to the 53 and 71 two cycle diesel sieries as Detroits. Lots of power and way too loud.

    Blazer wont start???

If you just replaced the solinoid [which would have been my first guess with new batteries and all], it is possible you have a short in the starter motor itself. You could take off starter back plate and look for shorts, burnt or frayed wires or worn brushes, { dirty commutatior.... ypu...

Where do you find 12v on a CUCV ? ?

12v is fed to a junction block near glow control on driver's side upper fire wall. The stock feed wire comes off the 2nd battery, negetive terminal, still 12v. suggest getting a volt meter so you can explore other possibilities for your application.

Can the diagnostic circuit be removed?

I'm not sure there is anything to be gained by screwing with the harness. I have never used the STE/ICE circuit, but it has never bothered me either. In my experiance , messing with the wireing harness on any vehicle is not good unless you need to for some reason. Let sleeping dogs lie and...

    Diesel additive

RE: Power Service Additives A local fuel supplyer offered B-20 . 20% veggy oil,80% diesel,,Ran my trucks on this for over a year untill they stopped selling due to big price increase. The biofuel adds lubrication to the fuel. It will seem to clog filters because it flushes sludge out of the...

My CUCV keeps blowing Starter Relay???

? make sure both your engine and chassis are properly grounded to batteries with good cable. I hesitate to ask, but are batteries wired up for correct voltage for starter? 12v or 24v Lastly, make sure you have correct starter soleniod, I had one parts supplyer who was so sure that 12 and 24...

    Cant feel 3rd gear shift

I agree, If tranny isn't working you can save a lot if it is only a clogged filter. It is uplifting when you thought you needed a rebuild but all you needed was maintanece .
