Well, I do understand the pay now or pay later rule... I can buy a $15k truck outright or buy a $5k truck and put $10k or more (plus labor) into it.
Trying to get more information on the Mack powered one now... hoping to get some more details soon.
I'll post another thread to debate the Mack v...
More pics from today's trip...

If I understand the operation correctly, when it's in neutral, there is air going to the forward side and in reverse it is going to the reverse side. If you cut the air supply, the sprag is in neutral...

That's just it, the 1009 doesn't have 1 ton suspension, it's a half ton rated truck. Wheelbase also has a lot to do with towing stability. The Blazer wheelbase is short enough that a heavy trailer can actually push the front of the truck around and therefore is not an ideal towing situation. If...
The 1009 is a Blazer and due to its short wheelbase, I wouldn't recommend large towing jobs. It can be done, but it's easy to end up in a 'tail wagging the dog' situation. 1008/1028 is a much better choice, although the going will be somewhat slow due to the gearing.

I second the screwdriver and hammer idea then just go to NAPA and get new 4 slot nuts. Just put the screwdriver in one of the slots and tap it (lefty loosey) to remove it. FWIW, I haven't seen a 6 slot nut on a D44 either, only 4s.

Oh, as an alternate I also saw the rear markings on the bottom corners of the tailgate since the bumper is not flat.
Most of what I saw was door markings only FWIW (forgot to add that in the first message)

US Air Force
85K#### (#### is whatever vehicle order number sequence the vehicle is)
Would be centered on the front doors just below the body line, right side of the front bumper and left side of the rear. On CUCVs I also saw US Air Force on the left and the reg number on the right (as you...
That is incorrect. Ford and Dodge only built 4x4 crew cabs in the short bed variety in the 60s and 70s. Dodge continued with them until the early 80s. Chevy is the only one who did not build a CC short bed until the 90s.
