Thanks for the visual on that. I sliced the rear end of my tail bone on the faucet climbing out of the tub one day. The girl looking over my shoulder reading your thread, now thinks I should wear that hat around the house.

I had to pull these pictures together. Did we have a surplus of yellow paint from our Yield signs or what happened to the color choices? Stan? Cmpman?
It looks like the same guy painted them! Something originally oddball about that truck.
My data plate reads 30-4-54 120703002
It's always best to dig up info on your local seat belt legislation, then post what you find. Insurance, registration, road usage laws and basically anything to do with legal interpretation is discussion we avoid. A better question might be, when is the last time any of us 'ever' read the...
There has always been an impressive driving responsibility in the MV crowd and encouraging best driving practices is a foundation.
It's a good thing to re-visit from time to time so thanks for tossing it around gents. Even if we had an impact on one kid to put his phone down while he's driving...
Goof Off http://www.goofoffproducts.com/ is a product I used to remove paint from 50's original enamel??? Semi-gloss Olive Drab.
Post #93 shows the shiny dash. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?52255-G749-preservation/page10
I also used it on a data plate to remove aged over-spray...
Just a safety bump and some fresh info on how we're progressing with our new technologies. Alberta is being forced to 'look at' adding demerits and a pile of other legislation because we're not learning.
If the phone addicts just put the phone away until they're home we wouldn't need to add yet...
We'll need more mufflers!
Welcome to the Jolly Green Giant Wallet Munchin Convoying Truckin' Club Association. The JGGWMCTCeh.
You are surrounded by G749 trucks and the greeting committee of Steel Soldiers who shall now toast to you
This is just a great video of an air show at the end of World War II.
Shots of a Dakota doing a low-pass glider grab, P-47 low passes, just 10 minutes of cool backed up with era correct tunes.

What is the truck going to do?
If it's an asphalt queen and you're not playing in anything slick, leave out the front drive-shaft. I pull the front shaft to run around the city, practice drifting in the winter and do parades. I put it back in to pull Seano11 out of the mud every couple of...
For additional info there are a few nuts out there trying to capture the cold war stories on both sides of the border. With the huge number of 50's/60's fall-out stations we'd presume a ton of these radios would still be around.
I saw them in my Civil Defense searches somewhere so if I dig up...
Moisture in the cab, mirrors, fan-belts and heater intake is just a pain. Plowing real slow works and having a driver that is dry and does not exhale helps but is not usually an option.
Heated mirrors, protecting intakes, add big wind inside the cab and after-market heated seats would make...
The green disease is strong here, seeing that is not the cure. Must take springs apart and paint each one. Must have that :-D.
Never thought I'd stare at a painted spring pack, thank you, simply beautiful.
:tigger:
Found a Civil Defense link with an M220 titled 'fall-out shelter'. Were they designed to act as a fall-out shelter? My Shop van appears to have provisions for an additional sliding door, inside the main barn doors...
The Civil Defense Story is still being discovered and there are several 'buried' links to our trucks. We're just beginning to discover 'some' of the bunkers, comms shelters, repeaters, receiver and transmitter locations. I've only glanced at the American story but at least you guys have done a...
Can you elaborate a little on Civil Defense in your area and what work the deuce may have done at the time. 50's history is cool.
I'm working on a little project that needs a Civil Defense Deuce. Volume warning http://civildefencemuseum.ca/
I want to tell you that it was just looking for a ground but really have no idea what I'm talking about. There is limited info in the books on a schematic for the faraday and low pressure switch.
Checked all the books, read the entire internet...it does not end the way one would think....found...
G749 Pictures
You are so right, not enough pictures of Gracie. You also noticed we're missing a M215, M217, M220, M221, M222 and matching trailers. I am working on it.
...........and I completely forgot Piglet.
We can't forget the re-purposed G749 trucks like this M135 that was modified...
M207
You'll get the picture process. Most problems arise when we don't click the 'remember me' box when we sign in.
Patracy fixes all the other ones so there really are no problems.
Here's a thread that helps us out...
If you're taking the time to post pics so we can see your Early Deuce, there are a couple of dedicated threads you can add to if you like.
Starting a 'Build Thread" is a lot of work so sharing sassy photo's and data on your Early rigs can be stored and saved on the two threads below. Jumping...
