I'm hoping they're rare and unusual and will go on a truck that will be paraded or locked in a museum. I'm a hoarding keeper for now but if there is a worthy project out there in the G749 series trucks that will get some education exposure and they are 'correct', I'd donate them.
Currently I'm...
Just had this link sent to me and might solve everyone's.....can't get in because it's too wet problem. The reason I thought I'd post here is it can be built with spare parts......and you have some! It's could be called carnage in Mississippi.
It's under a few titles "Home built...
Restoration time sequencing
I miss you solving all the challenges we face everyday.
I now have a few boxes to go through with my new purchase so lets get up to date on your light needs.
Traded my snowmobile for MV stuff and now its snowing so it must have been the right thing to do.
Got...
That's the best G749 description ever! The lube chart alone is enough to beat the hardiest builders down. We've got your six so whatever you decide to do with her, tell us if we can help.
It's obvious now your trucks a lady.
Progress
Good call on the high temp paint, looks great.
Are you going to paint the wheel cylinder where it's exposed on the backing plate??
I just set the brakes on the Deuce and was disappointed to see rust on the wheel cylinders especially around the bleed screws.
Lesson learned for me so...
Has it been re-built?
We had steering components that were so loose we used them as wind chimes so if you can drive your 60 year old truck home, you're lucky.
Most seals dry up and I think there's 16 or so different components that can leak oil. If any of these are dry, or the seals fail on...
M1010
They like camping, fishing, mountains and it's hard to keep them out of the water. Once they're in the water, they don't want to come out.
Go fishing, get pictures and enjoy, nice find.
Anything done on that motor by the PD to make it go faster?
First post and first day on the Steel Soldiers Solutions Site. SSSS
Welcome aboard. I had this same question and X typically mean EXperimental.....Your truck, is an experiment.
Get into the rules and you can find the best way to use the site......and learning to post pictures is the best way...
Warm sunny Las Vegas. I can only imagine.
Welcome to Steel Soldiers and Thanks for Serving. Every Canadian I know either has or will visit your City some day.
What's the attraction?
It's a tight system once it works. No leaks sits for weeks.
The air-pak is a re-build item if it's been sitting or it can allow air into the 'fluid' system each time you run. hssssss gurgle gurle
1) Any fluid coming out of your air-tanks when you drain them?
There is a maintenance procedure...
I tried to phone http://www.portrayal.com/manuals.html to get the low-down on stock and closing and the fax. is on only. There is however, a new note on their site that it will be continue under new ownership so that is good news.
Thanks Catman, I miss you kids, hugs. I'm going to ask if...
G-749 Re-build Project Phases
The guru that helped me with the 'catastrophic' portions of the re-build showed us a nice tip on removing the front axles.
AXLES
The front axles have 2 additional threaded holes in the cap. Once your bolts are out of the axle cap, insert 2 correct size bolts into...
She purrs. You're so good at the video's would you be so kind to get a good audio of the starter turning and what it sounds like when she fires.:|
Congratulations!
You'll notice a difference once the exhaust is bolted on. Mine behaved just like yours before the muffler was replaced. The first...

A bump from 2+ years ago for a NAPA parts list revival thread.
Post your current part numbers for the G-749 Series trucks before Gunfreak fills the thread.

I heard from a wizard right here on Steel Soldiers that """""Ether to be added while engine is turning"""""
If you don't and it gets drawn into "one" cylinder, when you begin to crank your detonation isn't spread evenly between pistons and one piston doesn't remember that it is attached...
Ahhhhh, pictures! Soothing.
Nice straight fuel tank hot digity dog. You have some fender work as usual with that high tech skirt fold trapping dirt in just the right places. The truck looks real clean and much better then others I've seen.
Seeing a white truck on stand brings back lotsa...
