Picked up this clean Kansas rebuild and gave her a face lift (paint), PMCS, and a few minor repairs. I've not seen a rebuilt engine that is navy gray/blue like this, maybe it was done at Cummins and shipped to the depot? Either way I feel it looks like it just rolled out the depot door.
Got this old girl from an airport and was incredibly surprised. After a steam wash, PMCS, touch up paint, and exercising the truck it's mint. Absolutely mint.

John is the owner/tech and does an amazing job. He warranties his work too. I've been a happy customer with him for years.
Time to give this thread some juice. Won a CUCVII this week and looks pretty sweet. I was told it starts and runs but shuts off due to "an issue in the injection pump wire harness". Mhm. Time will tell. Judging by the pics they were chasing something behind the glovebox and gave up. I see a dent...
Ok, she's done now. I'd say that painting an M936 wrecker is more intensive due to the number of angled surfaces but there are certain areas on this M920 that you have to maneuver into unlike the others.
Upgrading to a 3126 or C7 would require rewiring the truck so best stick to the 3116 by finding a 290 hp take out or follow simp's advice to keep it going longer.
Though technically a 20 ton, it fit better here than the 5 ton thread. Did the main coat and am planning on finishing up this old gal' today. Engine is a 08' rebuild Big Cam III and she was an Arizona truck so minimal rust. I'm jealous of how easy this engine turns over and idles it's just so...
I've used these guys a few times. They focus on heavy duty stuff like Semi's, loaders, etc.
