The speedometer cable adapter on my M521A1 (MACK) seems to be the cause of the speedometer not working. The -20P parts manual calls out two different adapters. A regular one and one with a drive ration of 26 to 1. Does anyone know which one I would need? (transmission is an overdrive...
The first thing I would check to see is if you are getting the voltages you need on the plug on the truck. Usually, the weakest link on these types of set ups is that the ground wire isn't making a good connections where it is connected to ground on the truck. Are you sure the 12V feed to the...
The air compressor governor (MS53006-1) on my M52A1 has a real slow release of air when it gets up to pressure. Is his normal (should it be a fast release)? Can these governors be taken apart and cleaned without messing something up? Any info on how they work would also help.
Those are the mirrors. The problem I am running in to is that the two holes are available in my M35A2 gun mount, but on the M52A1, those same holes are used by the exhaust stack bracket/shroud, and there doesn't appear to be enough room to run the mirror arm between the exhaust stack and...
The best advise is the spin on filter. Today I had the same problem with my MEP-005. It seems to be a standard ritual with these types of filter housings. I finally gave up today, and will try again tomorrow. One of the keys is to make sure the can turns freely in the groove as you are...
I should have read this before I tried using Xylene to clean my axle data plate. I first tried paint thinner but that didn't seem to work to good. The Xylene cleaned it off pretty easy. However, it also did a good job of taking the lettering off of the plate.
I am wanting to put the old style (not west coast) mirrors on my M52A1. However, when looking at the right hand side (passenger), the holes that I would think the mirror arm bracket would attach to have the exhaust pipe attached to them. Does anyone know how these types of mirror arms would be...
My M52A1 has a shroud that goes on top of the radiator. It appears to be there to keep the air from recirculating from the back to the front of the radiator between the hood and the top of the radiator. Attached are a couple of photos. I can't seem to find it in the parts manual. Is this...
M920 Electronic tach and speedometer not reading correctly
The fix is less than five minutes, once you know how far off it is and get the NSI guy to give you the correct dip switch settings.
I have read the threads of the placement of fire extinguishers in the M37 & M35, but was wondering if there is some sort of DOT requirements for an M920 type of truck. If I get pulled over, I suspect that I will have enough to go through explaining the military vehicle registration and don't...
M920 Electronic tach and speedometer not reading correctly
I took the M920 on a short road trip that the odometer said I went 20.2 miles. I then took the same route in my pickup, and the trip meter said I went 16.2 miles. I gave this info to the guy at NSI and he gave me the dip switch...
I had a shop pull the injector pump, and the seal was bad. Also had the pump rebuilt. When they put the rebuilt pump back on, the only way we could start it was with either (100 deg outside temp). The shop then rebuilt the injectors and it now starts right. It is just blowing a lot of white...
MEP-003S Engine Oil capacity
A note on using the manual to see if the dip stick is correct. The manual I have says the MEP-003A takes 6.5 qts of oil. I drained the oil and changed the oil filter on my MEP-003A and added the 6.5 qts, only to have the oil level about 2 inches above the full...
I have just gotten my recently acquired MEP-003A Genset running (Bad Freq Meter and Feq converter and broken speed control cable). I was in the process of changing the oil, when I noticed that there was "5KW" stamped on the dip stick. I have found a copy of the -003A parts manual and found the...
