Order a new pump from ebay-$50- Keep your old pump as spare parts. You can clean the old hanger assembly up with muriatic acid or have it bead blasted. New ones can be had but they are quite pricey.

If that 9/68 is the manufacture date I would be surprised if it is any good.

That is an alternator. Data plate says generator because it is technically a power generating unit.

If you only have 21 volts supplied to the gen/alt, you will only get 21 volts out. Replace the bad battery and check it over again.

Not even, just leave it hooked to the wrecker and drive it over to where you want. Just take it easy. Lower the boom to a safe level and extend it far enough that it doesn't swing and hit the truck. Of course how you do it is entirely up to you. Certainly safer your way, just more work. How far...

Do you have access to an M936 or 816? Could you just pick it up and drive away? That is the way I move these kinds of things around here.

You could, but I wouldn't. The Army got rid of all of them because they were breaking while towing. Use everything else, but get a steel towbar.

Wasn't there a long running thread on pre oiling systems and pumps for them? And wasn't the need for them negated almost completely with the advent of spin on oil filter conversions?
