It doesn't show in the pictures, but the tank is an old Union 76 fuel tank. The front port corner is bent up, so it has a accident history. I don't know if it's baffled or not, hopefully it is. The truck doesn't have a pump, so it's only for hauling water, and can only be filled by another...
I converted our M817 to a spin-on about 10 years ago, after searching for more than a week for a cartridge.
I use the Baldwin BF-1259. They are around $18, including tax. I think the adapter was around $20. I'm sorry I don't have the part number, like I said, it was 10 years ago.

Most of the trucks that have been refurbished, and had the FDC bypassed, will have a big yellow decal on the fuel filter canister above the IP. It says something about using diesel only because the compensator has been bypassed.
Most people use them as multi fuels anyway. The way the combustion...
That truck sits at the Middle Fork Volunteer Fire Department. It's right off the Mountain Parkway in Eastern KY. It's near the Slade exit. That's the exit for Kentucky's Natural Bridge State Park and the Red River Gorge, for those that know where that is.
I took a few pictures of a 5 ton at a rural fire department about 20 miles from here. It's been there over 10 years, but I've never stopped to look at it before.
I wasn't smart enough to look at the dash plate to see what it was.
If it smells like fuel, or if it is very thin.
In our case it was thin enough to notice a drop in oil pressure. It was also starting to leak through the main seals. It was a lot of fuel.
With the weather we've been having, after use is better. It can keep the drain valves from freezing.
Congrats on bringing the truck home. I'm not sure I like the way the dog is checking out the tires though.
5-ton air shift
The modification to air shift on a 5 ton isn't tough. Basically it just cuts off the air to the sprag, at it's source, and releases any pressure that's already on it. That's the spit you hear on the deuce when you disengage the front wheel drive.
Memphis equipment sells the...
You should keep an eye on the oil level. The level in our M817 started rising. I didn't pay much attention at first, but then the oil pressure dropped and the level had jumped a bunch. It turned out the seals on the injectors were failing and it was allowing fuel to leak into the crank case...
GR,
Here is a pic of what they're talking about. The fuel control solenoid is "A" and when powered with 24v, is open. When you drop power it closes. You can override the valve by turning the knob "B" in. This allows the engine to run without electrical power, so a truck can be pull started and...
