Ours is solid and looks good too. That's why I was asking, to make sure I get the right stuff.
Right now I'm thinking roll-on bed liner. It's tough and paint-able. The stuff WillWagner mentioned may be what's on it, but it really looks like it was rolled on. The texture is pretty even.
The plate on the bottom of the springer seat covers the hole anyway, doesn't it?

I've found mistakes in the TMs too. TM 9-2320-260-34-1 has a table showing the order you adjust the cylinder valves and injector valves in relation to the piston positions. If I had not realized something was wrong, I could have popped the nozzles off the injectors on all 6 cylinders.

I've also seen an M200 with a big diesel water pump on it. I wish I had pictures of it, but it was years ago and I didn't think any thing of it at the time.
I don't know if it was build that way, or if it was something added. You know how the military will sometimes build what they need.
I took the leaky deuce for a 20 mile drive yesterday after work. As soon as I stopped, I chocked the wheels, rolled under it and laid a bare hand on the transmission. It was warm, but not really hot. In fact, the transfer case was a lot hotter than the transmission.
