Had the same problem. Used a HiLift with a wrinkle: Put a 2 x 4 or the like to spread the force along the rack and use some type of angle iron attached to the wood as a lip to get under the wood slats & avoid dinging them. Soaking in PB a day or 2 wouldn't hurt along with some good banging...
One of our club members has one for sale. Coincidentally, it's a TV star having been on last week's 'Elementary' episode. If you saw the show, it was sitting on the sand on the beach in the background of the plane crash. I could have a convoy of decent Deuces or 2 concours M37s for the price...
You're having precisely the same stallout/no start problem I am with mine. Along with all the other stuff mentioned (which are on my list), take a close look at the fuel lines and make sure there are no kinks if they're metal. I found one in mine that could act like the collapsed rubber ones...
I've read most of the dust boot threads but I can't quite find a definitive answer to this question:
Am I pushing my luck running a couple hundred miles with splits in the front boots?
I'm scheduled for a parade on Sunday and have another event coming up in a couple of weeks. Total will be...
MTA Toys for Tots
MTA started earlier this month at a football tournament in Butler NJ and that was followed shortly after by another. The TfT Train will make 3 runs in NJ and NY this year, up from 2 last year.
Some snapshots from Butler . . . John (sixth from the left) works year 'round on...
While I agree with everybody on unreasonably short life . . .
Cycletek: How would you install the wire in this case? The grease argument makes sense except the only thing being used is what meets spec - Valvoline, I think.
Steve
Like you both, my boots failed. Less than a year old, not dry-rotted, and both split and blew grease out.
I did find a PS piece posted by Bjorn that made the point that failing to remove the plugs during lubrication can blow the boot off. Suppose it could build excess pressure and cause a...
I think I read all the boot threads as well as the -20. For the life of me I can't figure out where the safety wire mentioned is supposed to go or what kind/gauge wire I should use. Boots didn't come in a kit - just boots.
Can anybody enlighten me?
Thanks.

I was intrigued by the mention of rolling cars with RustOleum so I Googled. Here are 2 URLs with photos. Both had these in common: 50/50 thinning w/ mineral spirits; loads of sanding; many (6 - 8+) coats. Wonderful results. Loads of work on a Deuce and probably too much for a MV.
My...
Are you figuring on flat or semigloss? That can make a big difference in the finish. My suggestion is to get a small sample of the paint you intend to use, some Floetrol or Penetrol depending on acrylic vs. alkyd, and work out a bit on flat sheet metal.
I did tests for the outer sheet metal...
Thanks. Now I've got it. I like to have a rough idea of what I'm gonna see before I rip things apart or spend a lot of money on parts whose function isn't clear to me.

While replacing a rear brake line yesterday, I found that the female thread in the connector was stripped where the line connects. I've gotten a parts list from Vintage as well as Cabell's NAPA numbers for the washers.
I'm reading through the TMs and it looks like the hollow bolt threads on to...
A 'good deal' has less to do with price than it does with cost -- say 6 - 12 months out.
There's a boatload of threads for prospective buyers on SS. They are positively chocked full of posts from newcomers and experienced people. It would be a good exercise to read through them. Almost every...
I'm still trying to figger out the 'accomplished' part - but it does blow hot air. Fortunately for the truck, I think he Bubba'ed himself out with this one and left the rest of the 'improvements' for another day. Just 3 little holes in the top of the dash support will be left behind.
