About 75% dish-washing liquid and 25% water mix: brush onto the tires and allow to dry for a few minutes. Paint wheels and when the paint is dry, wash off tires. The paint won't stick to soap and they'll clean right up.
RE: Re: RE: 5 Ton Power Steering Question
Rumplecat, would that 90w be in the early "Armstrong" type power steering?
Ace, I think Bjorn and I are concerned about wounding something we've worked hard on and something we'll eventually have to find parts for, and repair, out in the middle of...
OK Guys, here's a topic to debate.
Got a 5 ton power steering system and the L.O. for it calls for HDO 10w (10 weight motor oil); and a power steering pump that runs with power steering fluid. How close are 10w and ATF? I don't want to hurt the pump by running 10w through it and I don't want to...
RE: Texas Blaster Recomendation
If you're doing this in the open and not in a cabinet then; absolutely, positively, without fail-- get yourself a positive pressure hood. They fit like a full face shield motorcycle helmet; gotta squeeze into them and they seal at the neck; but like 98hd says...
Michelins are the better choice. There was a bulletin that came down some time back warning that the Goodyears had some flaws that led to sidewall failures and to get rid of them in favor of the Michelins. A sidewall failure is nothing to take lightly but when it's on a 1600X20 the results can...
RE: Re: RE: THIS CLUTCH TOO!!!!!
Those metal wire things are springs to keep the clutch fingers from drifting back and riding on the clutch release bearing. If memory serves me; there are also some loose rollers towards the opposite ends of the fingers where they contact the pressure plate that...
RE: Re: RE: THIS CLUTCH TOO!!!!!
Gringeltaube, Yep the multifuelers too.
There were several different clutch set-ups used including a multi-disc affair. Leads to all sorts of mix and match possibilities... and associated headaches.
Westech, The idea behind using the wood blocks, as shown in the...
RE: THIS CLUTCH TOO!!!!!
Definately don't look right. Kenny's right about making sure the pressure plate and clutch disc are right for your application. The disc looks like it's in faced the right way based on the fact that the spring pack side should be towards the pressure plate. You should...
See if you can find some stuff called Tarnex. Comes in a black bottle with white lettering. Dip the plate into it and right back out and rinse. See what you think. After cleaning try Krylon Clear; it's available in gloss, flat or satin.
Bjorn, The color change to black was around late 70s to early 80s like Mutt1966 says. Can't pin point it because my manuals jump from 1975 (largest nation symbol in white that will fit in the specified area) to 1990 which is into the CARC era. If you go black markings on the semi-gloss O.D...
Are you going to try to keep the waterproof distributor or go to a standard automotive style? Maybe something out a six; Ford or Dodge would be a place to start. You might have to put the upper shaft from the electronic distributer on top of the drive shaft portion from your M37. Machining...
Look in the technical articles section and you should find a drwg titled "1100X20 Budd wheels for HEMTT". (Should be "1000X20"; I messed up on the title when I downloaded the drwg to the library). These are the Hayes-Lemmerz rims designed for the HEMTTs to carry the 1600X20 Michelins. If you...
Sounds like fuel starvation to me too. The cheapest place to start is to see if you have ANY filters with paper elements in the system. Replace them, especially after an extra rainy winter or heavy duty fording operations or a load of bad fuel. Most people don't realize it but the paper filter...
I think the short answer to your question is "yes".
I'm not sure it would even light in a small compression ignition engine. It is after all pretty... well, crude.
The SP's early steam engines ran on bunker C oil and it had to be steam-heated just to get it to flow; that stuff was at least a few...
As people get their feet on the ground and learn the site they'll look around on their own. 'Til then I try to remember that the only dumb question is the one that doesn't get asked. We weren't all born knowing everything so why not keep the site what it's supposed to be; a good, and fun, place...
Cooling the inlet air will make it denser and that should make for more complete fuel combustion which in turn will show as lighter throttle for the same amount of power, maybe a little better mileage, and more pulling power in the hills since the engine will think it's still closer to sea...
