The good and the bad of owning something tracked and/or armored?

I would like a 114, but it seems like you need awful deep pockets to buy even a project one. The 548 would be cool too, I could add my own armor. But I don't see them going for $5000 anymore either.

Working the fire out of a deuce

I would like to know all of that as well, since I do actually use my truck.

    Front tires not spinning

I wouldn't even waste my time screwing around with junk. If you don't have the air shift case, it is a wonderful idea to swap out to one. Do you have an air switch labeled " Front wheel drive" under your instrument cluster?

Deuce oil leak??? Where it it coming from?

If it doesn't leak oil, then it is probably really low or out of oil.

Deuce repair after scrappers got to it.

Weld up the hole in the oil pan. No reason to throw it away, and if you are good or know someone who is, it can be done without removal. And get it running! We want to know if it lives!

    inaccurate oil pressure readings

That's good to know, as I would actually prefer to go to a manual gauge on mine as opposed to the electric.

Miles per year on your deuce :)

I've put over 6000 miles on mine in the three months or so I've had it. I average no less than 60 miles per day almost six days a week. Sometimes often I do more than 100 miles a day. Running the Continental LDT-465-1d with D turbo. I burn mostly JP-8. I throw 5 gallons of gasoline and some...

    Odd Hmmwv Transmission leak

If it is a pump seal, and you let it leak very long, the pump bushing will weld itself to the torque converter and spin in the pump housing much like a rod bearing spins in an engine failure. If that happens you will need a new front pump half. I would suggest replacing the pump bushing with the...

    Cold Weather Death Wobble?

I'm not trying to be onery with you, I just don't want you to get hurt or killed because you overlooked something that is so easy to check.

    Cold Weather Death Wobble?

With the wheels off the ground and the vehicle properly supported, put one hand under the tire at the very bottom and one hand on the outside of the tire at the very top. Pull out towards yourself with your bottom hand while simultaneously pushing in toward the truck with your top hand. If there...
