Bertha is apparently jealous of the attention I'm giving the M37.(Torque bar separation)

I'd try Memphis first. Be aware there are some Chinese imports of these that aren't rightly machined. The unfortunate thing is if one is shot, all the rest aren't far behind. All 12 of 'em. Changing them is probably one of the most energy-sucking jobs on any 5-ton. And that big-assed box...

Something strange: M1123 HMMWV 30kw On Board Generator Equipped Prototype 6.5L 4-speed

All the missile rack and launcher was removed when we were hired to 'disassemble' the 548. No clue what unit it came from, but was in Southern AZ. DG

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

MV's always initiate a LOT of swearing. Mostly at them! DG

    I’m new here! I don’t know what I’m doing.

If you're going to buy all new tires, get some recent surplus radials. You'll be far ahead, no pun intended. DG

Something strange: M1123 HMMWV 30kw On Board Generator Equipped Prototype 6.5L 4-speed

Prolly why it never made it past the prototype stage. Kinda' like the Dodge XM195 truck. Only 3 built. DG

Something strange: M1123 HMMWV 30kw On Board Generator Equipped Prototype 6.5L 4-speed

Guyfang, I helped scrap one of those M548's with the 400Hz generator back in the early 90's. I still have some of the engine parts today. DG

Something strange: M1123 HMMWV 30kw On Board Generator Equipped Prototype 6.5L 4-speed

Less obvious in a combat theatre, like a specialized deuce with a regular canvas cover. It doesn't look like a electronic support vehicle. Stealthy lil' thing. DG

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

That weight rating also included a loaded trailer in tow, on a grade around some 30%. Of course in combat service that was usually doubled or tripled, especially for cargo trucks. Whatever fit, went. DG

    M1010 Campulance

Years ago I bought an M109A2 at a DRMO sale at the Alameda base in Cal. My winning bid was $1,256.12 It had been converted into a General's (Gen. Hendrix) motorhome in Nuremberg, according to a small dataplate.inside. https://militaryhallofhonor.com/honoree-record.php?id=250 Off to Desert...

    Finally! - 16.00R20s for my M813

The only drawback to running those on a 5-ton is one has to wear really loose fitting trousers to make that 1st step into the cab...o_O DG

M813 engine oil in brake air tanks

And after all that, you'll probably still have a bit of oil in your air tanks. DG

M813 engine oil in brake air tanks

When I was younger, older Proving Ground mechanics told me a little oil in the air tanks wasn't a bad deal, as the trucks of the day didn't have air dryers and the oil helped keep the rust down without hurting anything. I get a tablespoon or so per day from the air tank drain when driving it. DG

M939 series winch PTO hydraulic pump and drive adapted to M809/M939 series winch to a M809 series 5 ton.

Not an 809, rather my M54A1. The Mack engine has a gear drive hydraulic pump, mounted inline with the Bosch injection pump on the driver's side. Bearing, Belt & Chain in Phoenix had what I needed. Rocks in the chain? I don't think that will ever happen with it, and if it did I'd just nudge...

    Accessory rewire

If it's not 24V, it doesn't belong in a tactical. Get the right stuff, don't make it into some Lazy-Boy recliner on wheels. Geez... DG

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

Found a foto taken last Summer, thru an Eastern window. Some try to tell us "It's a dry heat." Well, it is very dry, but the same damn heat that cooks your turkey. DG
