Mine was all messed up too I ran a new wire from the I believe the 750 connector to the power side of the unit mine had a bad switch in the cab so I used a toggle switch to energize the system. In my case the toggle switch will work because Im the only one who drives the truck most will go with...
In the end it will come down to money it always does they will make them expensive (high minimum bid or reserve) then the insurance companies will get their share so it will be a truck for the collector hobbiest of way more means than me and more power to them if they can pay the freight I say...
Medium towbar is the way to go they pin right onto the front clevis mounts putting no weight on the tow vehicle therefore no light steering on the tow vehicle. I used to pull home 1009s this way the last 1028 I bought was towed home this way the tow vehicle never knew it was back there.
You have to be careful where you install them you dont want them behind you want them projecting the noise in front of you. I think if you put a ball valve in line not reachable from inside the cab and turn them off while driving you would get some leeway from the cops. If you get stopped and...
Like I said before you have to use some restraint when and where to use them the idiots useing them to scare the he** out of people are the ones ruining a good thing for others.
I have not had a problem with the police yet most just give me the thumbs up I suppose if they got to be a problem I could make a cover for them. My truck stays in my driveway so theft has not been a problem when it goes into winter storage the horn will be dismounted and stored in my shop until...
Adam Im pretty good at figuring out what line most horns come from I have a RS3L from the norfolk southern and the RS3K came from the BNSF but this set is stamped ACWR I have no clue what that is.
I got lucky I had mentioned I wanted a set to a guy in south carolina who I buy horn parts from and he had this set he said he would sell me I had a RS3K set I traded him and a bit of cash and the deal was done. I look every day on ebay and only found one RS5K set and missed the end it went for...
People really like these things going down the parade route you have to use a bit of restraint with them though around real little kids and older people. Its pretty funny the kids trying to cover both their ears while trying to signal you to hit the horn.
I will take them off over the winter and have them all media blasted then send them in for powdercoating I have some spare bells and powerchambers here in case I need them somewhere down the road.
