The guy at the shop is familiar wiith these generators and said it was OK and the gen 1 light does light up at turning the fan control on but I will check the fan motor resistor anything I can do to shorten the list of possibilitys will work.
I have a 1028 thats giving me fits trying to solve the gen 1 light going on with the heater fan. I have checked the voltage both batteries have a full charge even with driving this truck around for a month now the batteries have the correct volts when checked with the truck shut off and the 14...
Its a collapsed lifter sone of mine sounded like that after I brought them home from the GL yard they were sitting for years. Until the oil pumped them up after starting they would pop through the intake.
If you buy from lucky make sure your frame numbers or VIN matches the data plate I have seen a deuce that it did not match up number was fresh stamped into a new data plate.
I have not really considered it usually the overdrive trannys are electric shifted Im more of a mechanical oriented person thats why I stick with the old stuff.
Drive it home I have bought a few trucks from johnston and driven them all home. As a rule the IANG trucks are all in pretty good condition the worst I have encountered is the deuce I drove home with no lights but I had a chase vehicle behind me.
I had some spare time today so I gave my 1028 a new coat of CARC it had a couple spots that needed attention (rust issues) so I cut them out and welded in new metal after work last week so today was devoted to paint. I picked up the truck for a winter driver, firewood hauler it was listed as a...
Before you worry about a new pump try turning the idle screw up just a bit mine did the same thing when I got it. At first I figured bad fuel delivery so I went ahead and put an electric fuel pump on it ( I was going to do that anyways) then added a spin on base and fuel filter and it did the...
I have a data plate and title from a M52 here because I scrapped the truck so I figured I may need it some day and I wasnt going to throw out a title I paid a hundred dollars for. I know of many trucks fresh from GL where the VIN on the frame and data plates do not match.
Glen I have an old gasser gauge panel from my 52 studebaker if you need one the later ones are to big and will not fit if you still have the original dash still in the truck.
The only way to get them to fit right is to bend them I used a crescent wrench and bent the sleeves the pin goes through so I didnt have to take the hinges off the cab but there is a lot of trial and error but it can be done.
I have the same problem with the shutting down after revving it but it starts better than most I have owned I believe it is a fuel supply problem to the IP. My truck will run without any problem with the accelerator depressed as long as I want it to so its not a clogged check valve on the return...
When mine is cold it shifts too soon for my liking so I manually shift it until it warms up and it does not like to downshift going up hills so I manually shift it there too.
