RE: Where
Me too neither. Hope he's still chugging along. Texas seems even bigger when you're driving across it and islands of comfort or contact with the outside world are few and far between.
Uh, sure Bill. Let me see where I left my harness with the pintle hook attachment. It'll be touring the countryside and giving rides but I'm not sure exactly when. Some weeks the thing really comes together and some weeks I think I'm working on the world's largest lawn ornament.
another day, another piece ot two...
Squeezing in between work and other duties, I've managed to get a few more things done on the baby HEMTT.
Had to remake the driver side walkway 'cause the first one was oil-canning on me. Came out of the press brake propeller shaped and could be twisted into...
M35 bed weight
You're about dead on Kenny. Here's my buddy's crane swinging my bed into position on the baby HEMTT. Martin-Decker scale reads right at 2,000#.
Looked in my TMs and it appears that the sliding collar can be lubed with a grease fitting accessable through the bellhousing inspection plate but that the clutch release bearing is a sealed bearing and not servicable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
Repair procedure for airhorn solenoids:
1. Remove.
2. Wing it into the corner with the blown fuses, burnt out light bulbs, windshield wiper blades missing the rubber, shocks leaking oil, etc.
3. Replace with working solenoid.
RE: baby HEMTT update
Thanks for the vote of confidence Jason. It'll be another fine product of the "Miracle Machine Works" where our motto is; "If it's a good part, it's a Miracle".
Kenny, If you have a HIAB like Bjorn be prepared to hunt for metric fittings. We have two big hydraulic shops here in town and drew a blank at each. There are hose wraps both in coiled plastic and spring wire. Can get you details tomorrow if that'll help.
RE: baby HEMTT update
Great to hear, Bjorn. Glad to hear our mechanicing paid off.
I've got to see which is cheaper; another sheet of diamond plate or a trip through a normalizing furnace. Keyways are EDMed in the steering box gears but I have to find time to go pick them up. Things got kinda...
RE: Brakes
Had the same problem on mine. The airpack was not venting the air on release. I ended up getting to crawl under and break the fitting loose to bleed down the last of the trapped air until I got a good airpack installed.
Right Mike. Anything for "public distribution" is fair game.
Sometimes the problem, and confusion, is the "blanket restriction". i.e. A genset is no big deal; but if used to power classified radar equipment, it may fall under the radar's level of classification.
baby HEMTT update
One of those weeks where everything kinda falls into place.
Got the intercooler and radiator lashed together and will start cutting tubing for intercooler lines tomorrow. Also fitting engine doghouse side panels and walkway retaining clamps which will in turn, secure the spare...
Will let Bjorn share the detail pics of the oil seal adventure but here's a couple of shots just prior to his departure. Cole is keeping watch while Bjorn checks tires; baby HEMTT and cranetruck in my driveway.
Bjorn, Hope the rest of your trip is less exciting than the first half.
Don't have a spec sheet to rely on but here goes anyway. What is the requirement to lamp start? Often the HID lamps use a capacitor circuit to initially fire the arc. I'm thinking that as much current as you're talking across the lamp would be overkill for run state.
Good point Ken. I've become a fan of water seperators for both fuel and air systems since I started the baby HEMTT project. The problem with big fuel tanks is that moisture will collect inside on tank walls regardless of that other measures you take, so draining off the condensation is a good...
I salute all who made sacrifices for their country and their fellow soldiers in the field.
As one who serves; I can't say enough about the support for ground troops who are in harm's way.
Regardless of one's opinion of government or foreign policy; the those who gave so much, if not all...
I wasn't sure they were designed to be reused. But if it's cloth and not pressed felt, they should be cleanable. Try it on one and if it turns into soggy dryer lint you'll know that they're a one shot deal.
Gonna be a messy operation though; not something I'd run through the family Maytag. Let...
Just what kind of filter bags are we talking about? If they use a paper filter element then water will saturate the paper and not let anything flow through. *This also works with the paper element in-line fuel filters; so if you have moisture in your fuel tank, plan on changing the filter out...
