I like your idea best, I've been doing some brain storming myself for when I have to my bearings. My deuce is parked on gravel so I will have to have two pieces of plywood. I just need to get a sheet of plywood, I've got the pipe. (I'm going to use 3/4" conduit as it's thinner so I don't have to...
I eventually hope to replace my bed just because it's beat up so bad, but instead of scrapping it I may just mount it on some wagon gear. (haywagon frame and axles) That way if I pickup a load of compost I don't have to worry about unloading right away.
It's nice to see a young guy that has respect for stuff that doesn't belong to him. Too many young guys don't care about tearing up stuff and then are stupid enough to post themselves doing it online. You have the right attitude.
How's your cable's? Have you checked the connections at the starter and the ground? If you have corrosion past the terminals that can cause problems as well. I'd also check the full length to make sure the cables don't have a spot where the insulation has worn through and is grounding out.
Kind of obvious, but are you sure you're using the right setting/scale on your meter? Is it calibrated right? Try it on something you know is working right. I don't know how you could get much more than 24-28 volts without something frying.
Welcome to the world of MV's.
Having said that, park that truck until you know what you are doing before you kill someone. The person you kill may be me, and that would piss off my wife to no end. Seriously, get a manual or download one from JATonka's website. Read it, know it, love it...
The right side of the grill opposite the blackout light makes the most sense, it would kinda balance out the look and be protected at the same time. I think dmetal has the right idea.
I pulled off the front bumper today, got to weld the right side back on. It was welded before and the weld broke. (I'm going to put some 1/4" plate behind it for support) I'm thinking of extending the bumper out while I'm at it. I kind of like the winch look, although I probably won't put a...
I pulled off the bumper, got to weld one side back on. For some reason it was cut off and rewelded, but the weld broke. I got a couple of dings to pound out too. Gonna clean it up and paint it while I got it off.
I think it's nice to know about other options, it's more tools in the toolbox IMHO. And I have plenty of experience using WD40, not to mention it's usually more availible. Thanks for being positive.
I'd use WD40 first, it provides a little lube and doesn't make the RPM's go up as high as ether for the same amount. Less tendency for engine damage. Don't forget to take off the little red straw....
I'd add a good pair of mechanics gloves, you can bust your knuckles or get your fingers pinched pretty easy on MV's. And a good first aid kit can be handy.
Make sure you have line wrenches and a flaring tool for air lines. A cheater bar is handy to have.
I don't know if there's any "proper" ettiquite regarding putting on numbers, but that sounds like a logical thing to do.
I should've been authorized to wear a certain "airborne" units' patch, since my unit was OPCON'd directly to them for most of the deployment and did a lot of their dirty...
