RE: Re: RE: Proper Brake Bleeding
The best procedure is the one that works for you... I certainly would not recycle fluid into my MC as suggested above...all the rust and water and other stuff goes round and round... For $20 of brake fluid you will buy $500 of problems... ACE
RE: battery
The group 31 post type batteris work fine.. or from Walmart, I use the group 65s... a pair of them are great...their 100 percent return policy with no hassel is a bonus.... My M275A2 used two of the 29$ spcials for two years with no problem...I use solargisers too... great.. ACE
Usually just adjustment of th linkage...get the manual breakdown and see how the rods move in and out..and the detents..disconnect linkage and see if the rod is in the detent or jumps in when you disconnect... I have a 5 ton that when going into low, the lever hits the floor if you try to do...
RE: Re: RE: Proper Brake Bleeding
As there is no Soldier B in my Shop, I as have others, learned the DIY method on many things...Try rewinding front winch wire rope neatly by yourself!!! ACE
All three axles are the same.. If you want to do some relining, I have three sets of brand new linings.. enough for the whole truck...$75 plus UPS... Relined shoes are about $150 when you can find them... ACE.
If you are a glutton for punishment, get the civvy cylinder and have the local locksmith rekey it for the CUCV code...just give him your cucv key, the new cylinder, and a few bux and like magic he will make it work...Get a good GM cylinder and it will last longer than the chinese or indian...
the best part about our M series trucks is that they almost bleed themselves... Fill the MC wait overnite, refill and start your bleeding... MC then Booster then far to near...you can do it yourself with a nice tranny funnel and a rope around the pedal linkage...using a socket on a 1/4 drive...
Use tank headlights... they are nice and bright... or the wrecker work lites... Or get some leds from a commercial outfit like Whelen andd they work on 24 V too..... ACE
I would feel better with a 800 series truck doing that job... The deuce is really a light duty unit, for being a ten wheeler...I would be afraid of the tail wagging the dog in this situation...What do you have for trailer brakes...full air would be helpful for sure.. ACE
Usually there are new ones available at the New England rallies during the summer... Go to the VT, NH, MA, RI and NY shows and you will find some... ACE
Most Convoy Warning lights for the CUCV were purchased on the local economy as there were no kits for them...The Deuce, 5 ton and 10 ton kit for cab mount was the only kit I have seen purpose purchased for a particular vehicle... I still have one of them for sale new in box... $175... 80...
The alternator is adjustable for voltage by turning little screw under hex plug on side... However test the output voltage with a good voltmeter any where in the system, even at the batteries, with engine off and then with engine running to see if there is more or less 24 volts not running and...
