If you really are looking into producing a kit based off of this, offer it un-"assembled" as well. I think keeping it non-adjustable and in pieces could make it pretty affordable. It'd also be able to be shipped out via UPS (or other service) as the weight could be divided. It'd be especially...
Good reading as I need to replace a rear main seal. I'm going to replace the clutch and associated pieces while I'm in there. Doesn't sound as hard as I thought it'd be. I guess the divorced TC makes it easier to do than the regular civilian 4x4's.
I'm interested! Could you give a better break down on the parts? I'm not a wiring whiz, but I have a pretty good grasp. I just don't fully understand how you used all the components.
Re: RE: Stripping old paint
What's a needle scaler? I live in an urban area, so sand blasting isn't realistic. I need something more controllable.
I completely missed the "Paint and Bodywork" section. All I seen was the sandblasting section and that's not an option for me. I'll post over...
In the next couples of weeks, I'll be starting the paint stripping on my deuce. I can't use a sandblaster due to location. Has anyone else used other methods that's proved to be faster than sanding? Something like a chemical stripper or anything like that?
I have an air compressor and DA...
I'm currently chasing a possible leaking rear main seal. I'm exploring ALL other options first though because it doesn't leak oil all the time, only after it's driven for a while.
What interests me here is it's not really a "bobbed" Deuce, it's more of an axle delete. I think it'd look alright lifted and on 53" tires. I use the bed of mine alot and I've only had a a short time. Maybe I'll get another one soon and bob that one.
If you don't plan on going over 40mph, you'll be just fine hauling that much. As far as brakes, I think you'd be better off with the stock setup and just making sure it's working as it should. If it's mostly an on-road truck, some commerical tires would be best.
That ONLY worked on spooled/welded rear ends. As stated above, pinion brakes are exclusively for rock crawlers or parking brakes, NOT for everyday driving.
I'd be interested to know that as well. I have some oil and received oil, but I know some of his additives in it. I haven't turned up anything here w/ searches.
I'm not interested in the washing machine idea, I think it's too impractical to work... if it's even possible. I was strictly interested in sock filter rig shown earlier.
I know this is reviving an old thread, but I want to know more about that rig you posted pictures of Houdel. What is everything inside that box? I don't need an expensive setup and I'm fairly fabrication handy. I'll also only be using low-volume amounts of WEG/WVO/WATF.
