    Fuel Mileage?

Lots of variables there - and I don't feel comfortable answering until I've gone through a bit more fuel in my M35A2 - but for reference, the manual states 5-6 MPG. I suspect that's on unimproved roads - but if I recall correctly, the TM doesn't state road surface type or typical speeds /...

    air system gladhands

You want the 'Emergency' type - which is red. Got mine from Sanel (sp?) auto parts. Was $8 and change.

How do you mark your bumper?

One of our Dalmatians - Phillip - marked the bumper on my truck. He marks everything around here.

Zombie attack at the Flying F

I don't know about the creamed-corn - but maybe some of those new potatoes in the heart-attack sauce**. That, and a box of Round Rock doughnuts. I'll keep an eye out for that starter relay. ** For those people that heve never been to Rudy's, they serve the potatoes in melted butter - and not...

Zombie attack at the Flying F

Couldn't you get them to spring for Rudy's BBQ? I'm not starting any vehicle for anything less than a pound of that extra lean brisket. Or maybe the smoked turkey. Nah - I'm holding out for the brisket.

    New Deuce Motor

You're right, Rick - there's always room for improvement with new technology, my point was there's a price associated with everything. Improve the commonly known weak link - like head gaskets - and you'll find the next weak link in line. Increase compression, and you'll start pounding on...

    New Deuce Motor

Well, you can start modifying things in an effort to make more power - but each and every thing you do will likely reduce reliability. What's a small amount of power worth to you in terms of increasing the potential of some engine related failure? The engineers that designed this engine did...

    One Piece Windshield Wanted

Any good auto glass place should be able to do this. Back in the 80's I broke a windshield in my CJ-7 and the glass guy was there in an hour with a new one. I asked him how he got one so quickly, and he told me, "I made it". Flat glass - no biggy for him to cut from safety glass stock. The one...

    Need alittle help concerning Gensets

As OPCOM indicates, the $1-2K specials will likely get the job done for short grid interruptions, but if your goal is hurricane or ice storm aftermath for a week or more at a time, there's a good chance there's not going to be a lot of cheap generator left after all that hard running. After...

    TMs for MEP-002

Much obliged for the information, Speddmon and Jones. I'll take a look at those TMs. Agree on the 5 kW rating with mil gensets - my 5 kW MEP-017a @ 500 pounds and full pressure oil system is a lot more generator than my 8 kW Briggs one-lung splash unit @ 220 pounds. The MEP could run day in...

    TMs for MEP-002

I'm looking to purchase an MEP-003, or an MEP-002. The 003's are scarce in this area, but there's some 002's out there that I'm considering. Smaller generators are not always bad - since you can get longer runtimes on a given amount of fuel if your load is light enough - and around here in the...

    Need alittle help concerning Gensets

Concur that condition codes are meaningless. My MEP-017A was sold as 'mixed scrap iron and steel' - with a high lot / sale number that classified it as a scrap sale from GL. All it needed was oil in the crankcase, a battery, and the rust from condensation while in storage cleaned out of the carb...

Printing TM's what are the top picks

Thanks for the pointer, Recovery4x4 - agree, a bit on the spendy side, but a really nice manual. Having it all in one place saves a lot of walking back and forth, printing, and other nonsense when out working on the truck. Those fold-out schematics are key, too - so much better than something...

Printing TM's what are the top picks

Another vote for TM 9-2320-361-20 (unit maintenance) - this is my most used pdf. The Ops manual I found a couple copies of in printed form at the flea market for $5 each, but I've not seen the 1200+ page maintenance manual in paper form. Printing a few pages here and there doesn't cut it for me...

    Deuce on the way!!

Many threads on this - search and read, read, read. Batteries - as big as you can get - a pair of group 31 are a good starting point. How good are you with a wrench? Have you read through all the TMs on the truck? When you're done learning all you can, then you can weigh what you've learned...
