    New to me truck, #2

Is there an advantage to having a single over a double in actual use? Of course double is for double piston I assume which means more air more efficiently. For us guys on the outside is one better than the other for repairing or rebuilding down the road? #2 Can anyone tell which engine this is...

    6x6 lock in

It is an over-running clutch of sorts as in when it senses the rear axles slipping it sends power to the front axle. It is the first generation of transfer cases and is the less desirable of the two but I have one in the truck that I purchased first and it seems to work fine. I played in a...

    New to me truck, #2

I am confused about the marking on the door. I understand the CARC and 06 for "CARC last applied in 2006". What is does the rest mean?? Inquiring minds need to know now that it is sitting in my driveway. PS: I forgot to mention that the intake scoop for the heater is backwards. Think that...

    New to me truck

Here is a '72 M35A2C truck from G.L. @ Camp Shelby but was actually living in Philidelphia, MS until turned in in Dec. 2007. Truck drove 53 to 54 MPH all the way. Spring ride seat is nice but you're a lot closer to the steering wheel which is bad for us long-armed guys.

    Correct TM Question

The 361 -10 is for the newer series of truck in Extended Service. A more modern style of writing and designed primarily for the M35A series truck with extended duty service. Attached is the cover for the 10-1 thru 10-4 which was written for the M35 thru M35A2C in 09/1980. Before that the 209-10...

    M 35 Muffler Again

NAPA muffler is EXH 21470, the 90 degree elbow for the intake to put the mushroom cap horizontal is EXH 41378, and the band clamps needed for the muffler intallation are TRX 9669 (need 2 each) unless you are welding it on.

Does anyone know what the goverment paid for M35A2?

You can tell what year it is by the VIN and registration number. The VIN will also tell you if it was a plain M35 or M35A2 or M35A series with winch when manufactured. If you go to G.L.'s site, you can find a truck the same year and look at the price that they paid in a given year by contract...

    Oh Krap!

It seems like there would be a line to cap that feeds the cylinder to prevent suction of un-filtered air. I don't understand the system but the bottle feeds the intake or one or more cylinders to acutally inject the either. Is this system worti keeping for cold weather or is the electric...

    Oh Krap!

I just noticed that something is missing. A lot of trucks have a Orange colored cylinder mounted on the L/H Upper area of the firewall. Is this part of the either start system? Mine does not have the electric start aid for sure, the worm clamp for this Orange device is there but the cylinder(?)...

Taking notes as I read. All great ideas...thanks bunches fellow MVers. Jim

Well.....I just bought a Deuce....tell me what you think.

Well you will just have to make the Jeep look a little more like it's older brother that will be joining it soon. Post the VIN and we can tell you who made it and what year it is. Color wise, they just ran out of the green and brown, it looks like. That seems like a fair price for a winch...

    Wheel hop

Well I took 1.5 baby steps tonight. I clearly need to remember that big truck tires do not hold pressure like smaller radial tires. After 20 days or so the front tires were down to 40 PSI. I put them both up to 60 PSI and removed the scalloped tire and put the other nearly new tire on the r/h...

GL pics and spotting an air shift axle

Here is a picture of my truck. The chrome knobs are heater and defroster controls and the switch is just to the right of the chrome knobs. Good luck in your search. I also sent you a PM, Scott. Jim

    Wheel hop

Scott, Which way was your tow-in out? Too much or too little. I think you are on to something there. It could be tierods but I've not put it up in the air to check this (weekend project). I've heard tires shops say the this causes the scalloping on cars and small trucks too. Did you do this...

    Wheel hop

The scalloping is on the outside (outboard) corner of the tire on right side only. I have not checked the shocks other than I know they are not leaking fluid. Will have to pull them off to inspect. Do have the sprag transfer case. I'll pull the front driveshaft for quick troubleshooting...

    Wheel hop

When I rescued my truck a while back it had all the axle shafts installed along with the front drive flanges installed just as Uncle Sam likes it. I notice on the way home on the smooth interstate when I creeped up on 51 or 52 MPH the front end wobbled kind of like the old Willys CJ2A jeeps did...

    G.L. speeding up

I know that this topic questionable for this forum but there has been a lot of discussion here too. I sent my EUC in for the 2nd purchase cerified mail. It was approved in 1 1/2 days and then to B.C. on the 2nd day. This time I did not receive a DLA letter but when straight to Approved by D.L...

    Something to check?

What you more experienced owners think about pulling the differentials on a new-to-me truck. I know that is has been decommissioned since November of 2007 and sitting outside of course. Is there any advantage to pulling the differentials out for a good looking over? Could this perhaps prevent...

    What have I done?

I've found a similar solution. A back & shoulder massage, dinner, and then an offer to go to the local gardening center and buy her some compost, flowers, and other things to plant in her new or son-to-be-updated flower garden. Show her how "usuful" the truck is and you really have to have it...

    What have I done?

You have once again scratched "the itch". I was also watching that truck. Should be a good deal as long as everything is working. I'm a Hoosier by birth and they use lots of salt on the roads in the winter but luckily sheetmetal is mostly flat and easy to replace. Is that an A3 bumper? I...
