ahhhmmmm i like dem' gota get me a set when i swap in 5 ton axles!
hey one other thing...not tring to hijack the thred but what size clutch did you use with the 1160? and what # SAE bell did you use?
Thanks
All right this is my next plan as soon as the cummins is done and i run 100 or so miles on it. I have a bunch of 10" long travel air bags and im going to use one on each axle to lift a rear. (rear or center axle) then add a steering axle to the center. When i go for a long cruse i can lift the...
Hey ken! before you through that thing i the lake i would be interested in it so i could take it apart and try to make a drop box from the high range gears so i can drive the rear axle from the back of it in order to gain more drive shaft length with out wheels base length so i can run a...
heat wouldnt be the problem. just get the stuff for a 12,000 lb front axle. thats the minimum that semis run. I have a Junked out ford dump truck with a 20,000 pound front (and a running 3208 with a 13 speed box) or the 44K rears to use. so figuring that pair of brakes is rated for 12,000...
how about hydro-boost? like on 1 ton+ chevys and the lighter grain trucks like a C-60. its along the same lines as vacume boost like a normal pick-up truck but it uses the power steering pump for boost rather than air or vacume. i have the unit that came on the bus that i took my cummins out of...
hmmm...the n/a motor is set up differntly than the turbo one. in my parts book they give differnt pistons and some other stuff for them.. that might be how you get more boost or maybe my motor was just de-tuned. I think i look at my pyro much more than the tach like you said. Its easy to listen...
you realy dont want the pyro in that plug anyway, but it sounds like you will get by. the perfect spot is to take off the turbo and put it in right above it so that you know EXCATLY what the temp is. maybe im just too pickey. i went by 1/4's then 1/2's and ended up with about 10 turns total but...
yeah but a couple might over lap though. and dont forget that that extra box taked like 13% more power and its not like we have the most efficent trucks around to begin with. Im looking for about a 600 Lb. class 18 speed or maybe a 13 but the d@** OD makes them so high priced
alright look on the front of the fuel dencity compensator and there *should* be a little tin cover with some safety wire on the bolts. defeat the wire and take off the cover. wala a threaded rod with two nuts. get two wrenches and losten the outer one while holding the inner. next tighten the...
if anyone is interested in a 4 speed direct allison auto i have one that will bolt to the samller pattern on a multi fuel but you will need to figure out he converter. its an allison AT 545 from behind my 5.9 cummins. as for an overdrive im workin or a 2 speed rearend. the plan is to take out...
Yes, i agree that 24 is better and the amps will double(i plan on relays for the big items and the little stuff should be fine). But when im 2000 miles from home and the starter or alternator go bad any truck shop will have a 12 volt unit and lots of truck shops are open 24 hours or at least...
Alright the day has come. During my cummins swap i decided it would be cheaper and better in the long run to just give in and convert her to 12 volt. All seams fairly simple until i thought of the fuel pump. The plan is to take out the stock one and put a plate over the hole. then draw of the...
Thank you MM you just got yourself a job as my spokes man! You do a fine job, think you know more ab out my truck than i do!
Im tryin to get a few picks with the motor in but i took it out to finish up makin a through out and pilot bearing set up for the clutch and decided to roll a set of rods...
my multi fuel loved LP. i just put a grill tank in the box and ran a 3/8 fuel line through the back window and put a fuel pres. gauge in line with a ball valve and laid it on the seat. ran through the t-case shifter hole and used a 1/4 inch orfice befor the turbo and ran 6 PSI. it was all R and...
Hmm i was thinkin the same thing....funny how genious minds think alike. My plan was to build an ice fishin house that fit in the back of my deuce and under the canopy, then just chop a hole and add a rubber gasket. Then I got talking to an MV expert and he informed me of these "shelters" you...
