About the brakes, likely the wheel cylinders are in need of attention, and may need brake hoses. I was able to get by for a couple drives with just adding fluid and bleeding on the crane, but the entire system needed rebuilt.
Is this related to M35tom's overdrive upgrade for the 3053 transmission? (.79 fifth gear to .69 fifth gear) I'm sure some of us will be interested, any details yet?

I may be 6' 8, but 200lbs is pretty skinny on me. Box seat is better, I have a modded spring seat in one truck that will be changed to a box at some point. Don't have steering wheel issues. Put the windshield wiper in upside down(works fine), and you won't be staring at it all the time.

Thanks Jon, that helps alot. I'll be pulling the engine or transmission in the near future. Have the fenders/hood off the truck right now, it may be easier to pull the engine.
Did start to pull the seal. Oil pan and flywheel have to come off. Put it back together when I found the head was...
Okay, I've searched, and checked the cross-reference. Think I looked too long, so what are the bulbs, and positions for the tail/front light housings?

Well, I couldn't fine the -30 1965 manual online. The -20 doesn't get detailed about engine repairs, just adjustment and replacement.
Can anyone tell me if it's a one-piece or 2 piece? Can you replace it by pulling the oil pan, or have to get the flywheel off?
Dennis
They came apart like regular u-joints for me. The u-joints were not cross-drilled, I guess you could drill the caps for zerks, not sure of the clearance in the knuckle.
On a modern seal, the seal is installed on the hub, and rides against the spindle. There is no place for a seal to ride on on the spindles. Also the hub only has 1/8 inch depth that a seal could be installed in. The inner seal is good for grease, but can leak oil out.
Anyone know what TM, that is available for download, would cover the 331 gas engine?
Or, has anyone replaced the main seal in one? Have a part #?
Thanks,
Dennis
Little bored today, so played with my favorite gear ratio/tire/speed calculator. Be sure to leave at least one area blank, if all areas are filled, it won't calculate.
