I think that is a trailer meant to be pulled by the older 5 ton Bolster truck M815, for long logs like telephone poles and such. If so, I don't think its rated at 14 tons = 28,000 lbs. Brakes should be air over hydraulic. I think he meant 4 ton.
here is a thread about them...
Where ever you plan on having it, you need to talk to the owner or BLM or agency in charge of the area. See what permits you would need. If its close to north west NM, I would help out however I can.
Hey WM - if you get a hold of Soni before tomorrow, tell him to call me please. I tried to call him tonight and his phone said "number no longer in service?"
Nice pics - us NM guys are gonna keep Soni busy!!
As a side note about diesel and temps:
We are currently using three of the portable oil fired heaters here at work, we have to fill them up with clean #1 diesel about every 8 hours. Last night it was -5 F here and the diesel was just starting to "gel" or get thicker and flow a little slower...
Thats my problem also, too much time up and back plus the convoy itself. Not to mention the fuel costs and repairs needs to the truck itself beforehand.
Should not be too cold in Aug though even up in Alaska.
come on lottery!!!!!!! ;)
I have tried looking on here and on line but the best I could come up with is a M35A2 wiring diagram and guess on the other stuff that is specific to a 5 ton. On your fuel transfer pump wire, I don't know, sorry.
The M39 series tech manuals are kinda lacking in the schematics.
Here is a less costly solution to a pump:
DIY, How to make a SBC veg-oil pump for cheap - Forums
then get a 24V motor from Ebay (scooter motors are pretty cheap), hook it up to the pump and wire it so you can plug it into your slave cable connector.
I was thinking of a DPDT switch to make it...
1) air down tires
2) get a shovel and start digging
3) get some boards/rocks/filler stuff and put in under tires
when all else fails and you really want it out - call a big wrecker!!
I think Group 31's (?) will fit side to side just fine. The big ol Cummins 250 takes a lot of juice to spin over and get started especially in the winter so get some with high CCA's (cold cranking amps).
I would only lift the front of the M35A2 if it has a problem and can not be flat towed. the 5 ton wrecker has plenty of weight to flat tow a 2.5 ton.
see this thread for lifting with a whiffle tree:

Hey DH,
I have told Chris and Mike both that I would gladly help out with the classifieds, i.e. be a mod or whatever is needed. If you are talking to them sometime, just let them know again please.
