CUCVFAN posted the correct trailer on the Govliquidation pictures. If you look at the tailgate, you can see it was hit in the rear and shoved under something in front of it. It might have been hitched to another truck because the hitch was damaged as well, but repairable. The spare tire on the...
I have purchased an M105A3 trailer on Govliquidation. The serial number made me wonder what it might mean. It is NWOX1Q. On some other military items, an X meant it was a one off or other experimental thing. Is that the case here? The trailer has the markings HS-T141 and a mushroom cloud...
One of my 105's had the lunette bent straight up with a section of the frame just past the landing wheel mount. I cut it off at the end of the bent part and welded part of a mobile home tongue under the remaining A frame front tongue. It worked really well, made hitch height right for a normal...
I have an M313 expansible on an M295A1 6 ton trailer. It is like the picture with the windows and door in the side. It has three sets of wheel wells so it will fit on other trucks. It has double doors in the rear. The windows are double pane gas filled for insulation. All windows have a sliding...
I converted an M135 in similar fashion, hauled grain and stone for years with it. The deuce PTO will not fit the five ton. A twin post hoist is much easier to put on, but you lose the stock appearance.
When we did not have a true tow bar available, we put a log chain through an 8' section of 3" steel pipe, connecting the chain to a shackle on each truck as close to the end of the pipe as possible. That way, you can pull and control the roll of the dead truck as long as you keep the pipe...
I put a South Wind 939J24 multifuel engine heater on my M543A2. I think it is a really good addition. It heats the engine nicely. I considered using an electric tank type heater, but if the truck is away from a power supply, it cannot be used. I leave the heater on when using the truck for short...

NAPA should have listings for the 302 in civilian trucks, All parts on yours will be the same as civilian engine except for waterproofing items like waterproof distributor and plugs/wires. You can put a civilian distributor and plugs in the...
My son's mother in had two cars in the back yard, and had an 8 foot high fence put around the yard without a gate big enough to get the old cars out. Yes, I know, DUH, but it happened. We used my M543A2 to lift the cars over the fence and onto a flatbed trailer.
We have a large piece of...
You have the main trans that is a four speed, then there is a large round casting mounted to the rear of the trans that is the high/low clutch. It has its own valve body and shift rod to it at the top. Check that the linkages are not rusted, preventing shifts. I had high/low go out one time...
I agree with supporting those in the surplus business. However, I know what items I can buy at NAPA and what items I need to go to the surplus guys for. For myself I do not see the economy in calling the surplus guys when my truck is down due to a part I can get locally the same day. I have had...
We had similar trouble on a deuce, the problem was the plug that connects wire harness to the turn signal switch. Had to clean up the connector with electrical contact spray, then it worked fine.

We have an M139 bridge truck with the 6602 in it. It is a strong engine, it can get down low on RPM and keeps pulling. We like it. The thing you have to watch with gas motors is if they have set too long without running, bearing erosion can happen from acids in the oil. This leads to bearing...
I think it is odd the Military Channel rated the F4 like they did. It did a lot, the problem was it was designed when the thinking was that guns on a plane were obsolete because missiles were the wave of future combat. Many opportunities and victories in close-in combat were lost in VN because...
Go to a scrap yard and get the pto driven pump off an older dump truck. Some of them have the valving included with the pump.Easier not to reinvent the wheel, so to say!!
