I spoke with the owner over the phone, and he has tossed around the rule of thumb of 20 square feet per hour as a reasonable blasting rate to expect.
More info to come after I visit the place and get my walk through on the process and media available.
Just a vid I stumbled across that is amusing given the number of tough guys here who say an M35a2 is too much work to steer...
I hope you get a laugh at the end. When you see the size of the driver. He does a pretty awesome job too!

How common, and how expensive are those boxes?
The system put together by Gringletaube seems to be the best option for achieving the goals you describe for those not fortunate enough to have found your trove of 5 ton parts. Search for it and have a look.

If you look at that Canton pan, you will notice the sides are kicked "out" unlike a factory pan. It's quite simple, although if you have the ability to run a rear sump instead, that would be a better plan. (clearance allowing of...
It does look good. Honestly, if I didn't know anything had happened to it I would never notice the plates or that anything bad had happened.
Thanks for the updates. I hope they throw the book at the dirtbag and make him pay FULL restitution.
Working in sales I often thought the best solution would be to nip it in the bud early. Bring back the stocks and the whipping post. If the thief is a minor, they get placed in the stocks WITH THE PARENTS. (as many as can be identified these days) I think that might cure two problems. A...
I think he said he had full hydraulic steering, so the bumpsteer issue wouldn't apply.
The oil pan issue might also have a solution. On the cars/trucks we used to clearance the pan by cutting the sump out and making side chambers for the volume. No reduction in capacity, but increased room...
I wonder how much you could cool the box by painting the roof white or reflective. If you have to hide a deuce from anything airborne, you would need netting/cover anyway. That seems like a big surface to be a dark color.
Anyone ever try it?
Lots. We try to keep threads from duplicating information here because so many rely on this place as a reference source. Too many threads duplicating information causes confusion.
I was new once myself. Trust me, search first. Some of the old timers get a bit grumpy seeing the same questions...
I was looking into it pretty heavily for my 1964 Fairlane. Soda has some side issues that make soft plastic media look like a much better option, even if it is a bit more expensive.
On a deuce, I doubt soda would cut the CARC worth a darn. We don't need to worry about panel warping.
Search deuce power steering. The most recent thread has a long discussion about this torque generator and the pluses/drawbacks as well as other options.
(My favorite being Gringletaube's set-up.)
There was a couple of threads going about wet sandblasting with a powerwasher, but I have yet to see anything on dry ice blasting on the forum.

I found a local (SW Michigan) company that rents their 20x50 sandblasting booth for $25/hr media included.
I'm wondering if anyone here has ever used one of these rigs in the past and might have some advice to share. Anything to be careful of? Anything that will be damaged aside from the...
