I agree, GJ, Ouray, and Silverton and that highway is no place for a deuce. Its scary in anything larger than a car!
I suggest you go through Farmington instead of going through Shiprock and down to Gallup. That highway is under construction and is not the best for a deuce, I know, I drove...
One suggestion for the water tanks - use the space between the frame rails under the box. there is a at least a 12' x 2' x 2' space there that is pretty empty.
Would be a hassle to pull the box off I know but might be worth it.
I would think that its not too good for your engine.
Why not just hook up a new cable/handle to the stop lever on the IP? Go get a cheap bike cable and hook it up.

Here is what I have found:
Front and rear are the same - both are greased
outer seal is 7413447 inner is 7979349
front and rear bearings are same. inner and outer races are civy # 592 or 592A
inner bearing is 593 and outer is 596.
spindle nuts -
4-3/8" 8 sided, and...
I had the same problem with my 816 when I first started it, no air pressure at all. I found one of the drain valves on the tank was missing.
the governor is on the passenger side firewall and the unloader is on the top of the compressor - betcha its one or the other.
Manuals are the 9-2320-260-xxx series, look under the resources tab up above for tech manuals and page through a few.
The military usually used 4 batteries wired up for 24V for cold weather but if you have some heavy duty ones, two are fine. Group D I think? Look through the 5 ton section to...
