I have had that same thing happen to me and I tried wiggling the back of the start button to see if it had bad connections - sure enough it started.

You know you can convert a Chevy 350 oil pump to replace the "arm driven" one. cost me about $30 total, find a junk washer or dryer for the motor and you are set.
