    Hydraulic pump on deuce PTO

Just my humble opinion, maybe run a regular winch driveshaft to the front, and bolt pump on the bumper somehow. You can also get a double PTO that has the rear facing shaft. Then you could add a winch later on. Another option is a transfer case PTO. If you don't need much volume, can put a...

    Rec4x4, DD-M108 questions

Got some questions for the guru's about the M108/M60 1) How many were built? 2) How many would you estimate are still around? 3) What years were they built? 4 )Were they ever repowered by the military to A2?(multifuel, air transfer, spring seat) 5)What TM's do I need for the gasser, and...

    Mounting Split Rims w/tires

15/16 is 5/8 stud, 1 1/8 is 3/4 stud. If using standard bolts and nuts. Can also get heavy duty nuts, they are larger outside dia. The 1 1/8 would be 1 1/4 for a heavier duty nut. Dennis

    12.00-20 6 bolt rims

The standard rims for a 2 1/2(M35) can take a 12-20 tire. The rims are stamped in the inside that they take up to 12-20. The M108 I just got has 12-20's mounted on the front axle. Dennis

    m108

It's ALIVE! Plumbed up a gas can to the fuel pump, and fired it up! Crane runs in all directions. Engine has a miss to it, but runs decent. Have a bad hose, leaks when lowering the boom. If I shut off the crane and then lower, it doesn't leak. Got some pics of the block and ball that came...

    m108

Actually, it has all three spots. Two have been replaced. I could push the boom around about 6 inches, but it didn't sway going down the road. Did take out part of a telephone pole when with an outrigger. Turned too sharp and took a chunk out. There is a wrecking/weight ball, snatch block...

    m108

Now, on the the truck. Paint layers are Blue, olive drab, then some off color green. So sounds like it was an airforce truck. Thought the Hyd. tank was empty, turns out there was a screen in the way. Pull the dipstick and oil was full and clear. Truck is very original, didn't see much in...

    m108

Kind of impatient? Left the house at 7:30am, meet Gimpy at 9:15 in Columbus. Get in the deuce and head to PA, get to the truck at 2:00. Freaking HOT out. Gimpy and I are sweating like crazy, don't know how hot it got. Put a set of batteries in the truck, buzzer sounds off, and engine cranks...

    m108

Just got home. Couple of minor problems, didn't take long to fix. M35 ran great, pulled the M108 much better than I expected. Will post details and pics tomorrow, very happy with the truck and trip. A BIG thanks to Gimpy, without him the trip would have taken much longer!

    Deuce in flood

I would love to have the video! Recovering from the fording is kicking my butt! So far, repacked the front wheel bearings, repacked the axle boots, changed oil in transfer, transmission, and all 3 axles, checked rear bearings... The front axle had maybe a 1/4 cup of water in it, and the...

    Deuce in flood

Well, already got the front axle apart and almost together. On to the rears, transmission, transfer, and master cylinder. Yea Stan, truck is much cleaner! I figure if I was smart, I would have got into town earlier, and instead of popping up in the middle of things, found someone in charge...

    Deuce in flood

After driving 500 miles to look at the M108, getting to bed at midnight, having to chase leaks in the roof at 3 in the morning, I get a call at 6 am that Shelby is flooding(my hometown, about 10 miles away). Seems after 2 days of constant rain, the area got hit with 5-9 inches of rain in 6...

    Getting a M108!

Not going to drive it at all until tires are changed. Plan on pulling the axle shafts, front hubs, and plumbing a air line to the air pack before towing it home. Needs lots of work, but at least I will have it in the pole barn. The pics of the data plate didn't come out, will know more on...

    Getting a M108!

Found a M108 wrecker for sale, went a checked it out today. Rough looking, but complete, says it runs, but batteries are missing. Going Friday with Gimpy and deuce to tow it home, about 220 miles away. Got a lot to learn about it, and some things are missing. Not planning to do much to it...

    Rusty fuel tank problem(s)

I had stored some fuel in a 55 gallon drum, and not checked it before I used. It was full of rust, and most of the rust ended up in the fuel tank. When the filters were changed, found rust in the primary and first secondary filter. The second secondary(say that 5 times fast...) filter didn't...
