LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I'm bumping this in case it catches the eye of someone who has rebuilt both engines and knows the answer. Also, my M35A2 LDT should be coming home in a short while... I will pick this up when I have one in my hands.

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Just doing some looking... it seems a lot of old dump trucks used to be hydraulic brakes... any tandem axle hydraulic brake system from the 1970s drum dumps would seem to be a good place to look. I know the old F800 we had was a single axle, but did they make them in tandems as well? I'm being...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

I'm coming from the automotive industry here, so be kind if I'm missing some thing... We are trying to split the system in a manner similar to modern automotive brakes... single reservoir feeding two brake circuits so a line failure in either one won't disable the other. Correct? The only...

    pressurewasher sandblaster attachment

Here in Michigan that's no concern! I'm going to keep an eye out for a craigslist pressure-washer and a kit. I'm wondering how well it will work on a car... thin metal is normally bad juju for sand because of the heating/warping, but the water should control that.

    pressurewasher sandblaster attachment

By the way... if you're worried about flash rusting, have you tried attaching some zinc blocks BEFORE you blast to act as sacrificial cathodes until you can get it dry and a coat of sealer/primer/paint on it? Just an idea I had.

    pressurewasher sandblaster attachment

Thanks for this thread guys, I think you just answered a bunch of questions for me.... Pressure washer 2200psi and 4GPM... blasting attachment, keep the feed tube at the top, and only use real blasting media. Rgr tht.

    Test drives beginning Friday...

Friday, 9-30-11 Well..... My GF and I stood in a light drizzle for over 20 minutes watching "Joe" the owner screw around and talk to an employee/son who was working. The younger guy actually was polite and spoke with us as soon as we showed up, even though he was driving a forklift at the...

Real Man toys are good people!

Well..... My GF and I stood in a light drizzle for over 20 minutes watching "Joe" the owner screw around and talk to an employee/son who was working. The younger guy actually was polite and spoke with us as soon as we showed up, even though he was driving a forklift at the time. Joe looked...

    Selfridge Deuces

$1080.... every six months. No tickets, no accidents. I was a bit surprised.

    Selfridge Deuces

I've been searching threads for data from other people here in Michigan as to how you registered your M35A2 and how you plated her. I see some go farm, some normal truck, a few commercial (non-farm), and some historic. I got an insane quote for PLPD from Farm Bureau, and need to lock down the...

    395 tires SE Texas

But, I can understand the concerns of the site owners not wanting every forum looking like "MV Trader Online"... I see both sides, but I think it was an honest and innocent question. Maybe I'm too laid back. We could fix it easily with a "parts wanted" sub forum the small vendors could scan...

    395 tires SE Texas

Hmm... I think it would be more of a question of "What local vendors are available/recommended" than a "Want ad"

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

I'm ashamed to admit, I'm a poor boy. I need a deuce to move heavy stuff... so I would have to drive it back 300+ miles to Kalamazoo. Which I don't quite trust it to do... and I don't have the time, or extra money to be tied up with a truck I don't want to title, that smells like... well, like a...

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

Well guys... I have decided that this is not the truck for me. The Contact info for the farmer that has her is 989-674-2429. His name is Larry "Veerhoven?" and he is in Unionville Michigan. The truck is/was an M44 firetruck Code 530B REO engine #142927 I call that as a "Gold Comet" gas...

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

Wow.... REO wasn't his listing for just the manufacturer. The engine is marked REO 142827. I'm searching like a madman... this might be a gas truck. If it is a gasoline "Gold Comet" I don't have much use for her. Are those factory single 11x20s on different rims than the standard 9x20s? This...

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

Well, after talking with the GF I have decided to check her out this weekend. If it something I don't want, I'll have pictures and contact info on her to pass on to any interested parties. It's an 8 hour round trip to where she is, so I hope it's worth it. *fingers crossed*

Deuce and a half Fire Trucks 530B Pictures and Info Exchange

Thank you! You did a beautiful job on her, and your info/pics are the ones my searches keep popping up. Even search algorithms like that restoration!

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

You think there is hope it's a "Normal" deuce driveline? Just for parts availability and the thicker deck on the engine I would like the LDT/S A1. I'm iffy on her... It seems like a firetruck would have better/more options, but I'm not finding a lot on these.

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

Hmmmm... I can get her for a song, and the old guy needs the cash... but it's not the engine I was hoping for, or the T-case. (I think) scootertrs has one of these trucks, I searched his thread from 2008 for the data on the non-turbo engine, and my searches of gas deuces for the trans/case...

Can you guys make more sense of this code?

Yep... and if I'm not mistaken, that would make her an LDS427 non-turbo, non-airlocker, but with PTO(s) for the pump(s)...
