    Hmmwv fuel system issue

The fuel cap fully seals the fill tube opening when tightened down. If you leave the cap off, all you are doing is allowing the fuel tank to be equal to atmospheric pressure, meaning you're letting air into the tank to take the place of the fuel being sucked out of the tank. From how short of a...

    Hmmwv fuel system issue

If it was a gas lawnmower I would say the symptoms exactly describe a plugged/malfunctioning fuel tank vent, and the unit is starving for fuel as it builds up suction. Does it still do it if you remove the fuel cap?

    Data plate unreadable

When vehicles go through reset it is common for them to replace the data plate with a new one at the depot.

    O ring for 12 bolt wheel ?

I thought it was primarily that petroleum eats natural rubbers, but the majority of rubber we use these days is synthetic based, not natural, so not affected by it. Otherwise, wouldn't all of our tires be disintegrating from being in contact with a freshly paved/sealed roadway? I'd imagine it...

i was going off of remembered information, so thanks for the correction.

    O ring for 12 bolt wheel ?

I like to do the coating of grease on the rim pieces as well. A lot of people say it's to help hold the o-ring in place when you are tightening the rm down, but my thought is that the grease will let the o-ring slip into the groove if it is out of location by a little bit. As long as the spot...

    Run-flat opinion…….

for centramatics they say it will balance out up to 12 oz of weight. Of course, the closer you are to balanced to begin with, the smoother the ride will be because while the centramatics do an awesome job, every little bit still helps.

    Autozone Half-shaft fail

No, A2 and newer have 12k shafts, which are incompatible with the earlier shafts. The difference is in the size of the splines in the input gear in the hub. You would have to replace that gear for it to work.

    Run-flat opinion…….

As others have said, if you aren't airing down, then it shouldn't matter if they are there or not. But it does mean that you will need to verify air pressure often, because if for some reason you lose air pressure, there is nothing to keep the bead from coming off the rim. TrailWorthyFab...

    Hard Start Issue

So a fully charged 12V battery is above 12.6V. at 12.5V it would be 80-90% charged. A battery at 12.1V would be about 35-50% charged. When batteries are cold, they also lose starting capacity. At freezing temps, a battery has at best is 80% of it's original capacity available. So in other...

fuel dumping out of my air filter box

I'm not much up on the vent system, but isn't there a vent line that goes to the fuel pump? If the fuel pump were failed and leaking fuel, that would explain the situation.

    Goodyear MTR tires.....?

Tradeoffs though are a short lifespan and no mud/snow rating. Probably the best on road traction of the options though.

    Goodyear MTR tires.....?

Depends on your driving habits. The MTs will last you longer but don't have the best traction on road. The MTRs have a bit better traction but wear out faster. For road noise, on my M1123 I can't hear the tires much because everything else is too loud

Please help settle an argument over tire size

Also to add, why would you want a 160 lb tire/wheel as your spare? If nothing else he should buy a cheap rim and tire that weighs in at half of that for a spare.

Please help settle an argument over tire size

short term/low speed it shouldn't be a major issue. High speed or long distance will cause extra heat/wear in the differentials and the transfer case, which is just asking for premature failure. Even if the outer diameter is identical, different brands of tires and even different load ratings...

    Transfer switch MEP-803a

So if you're doing a hardwire install, then that one isn't ideal, but it will work. The reason I say this is it comes with an inlet box and power cable, which you shouldn't need for this job. The 9854 is the same transfer switch without those 2 items. The first website I checked is showing...

    Transfer switch MEP-803a

Okay, so from your description, it sounds like you are going to have a sub panel installed? Or there is one model of full panel with a small section that is transferred that the electrician might be talking about instead. Did he give you information as to which generac auto transfer switch he...

    Transfer switch MEP-803a

One other option out there is the GenerLink transfer switch. It installs in the meter's socket (done by the utility company) and will allow whole house transfer. The downside to this system is they have a 30 amp (7200 watts, though they claim it's good for 8500) and a 40 amp (they say max of...

    Transfer switch MEP-803a

I don't know your exact situation, so I can only give generalized advice for you. We don't know if you have a 100 amp breaker panel, 200 amp, 400 amp, etc. We don't know what types of loads you are trying to power, whether your house has all gas appliances, or everything electric. We don't...

Should it be mandatory that new owners read the -10 manual before they take delivery??????????

So how would you go about prove that they have read the -10 any more than they read the auction contract rules or any other type of CYA terms they put in fine print on every single thing these days? Nobody bothers to read anything, they just scroll down, click the little "I Agree" box, and move...
